MUMFORD & SONS - RAILROAD REVIVAL TOUR

Since Mumford & Sons just won the Grammy for Best Album of the Year I thought I'd share some photos I took of them in Austin, TX during the Railroad Revival Tour.  I took these shots in April of 2011 while I was on a random road trip.  A friend of mine was doing sound for the bands on tour and I happened to be in Texas the same time they were passing through so he got me a photographer pass.

NEW BALANCE DELIVERS BALANCE

There's nothing like a good pair of comfortable shoes when you're out adventuring in the middle of nowhere.  A light and durable pair of shoes can make hiking a delight while giving one the ability to out maneuver wild creatures and kick some ass when needed.  Luckily on our most recent travels there was no need for butt kicking or any face-offs with angry beasts, but you can bet your ass that if the situation were to arise we would have been ready for it.

Whether we're hanging out together or individually we both enjoy an active lifestyle and like the comfort provided by New Balance when we're running, hiking, biking and even drumming.  Our last two trips involved a bit of hiking in Joshua Tree, CA and Sedona, AZ and our New Balance shoes not only gave us a blister free trip, but did in fact provide us with balance when we started hopping around on some boulders in search of the perfect vantage point to take some pictures, the picture above was taken in Joshua Tree.  We love a nice comfortable fit that compliments our lifestyle!

We've been listening to Old Crow Medicine Show a lot recently.  We're hoping to be able to see them live at some point this year, possibly at the Stagecoach Festival in April. Here are a few pictures I took of the band during the Railroad Revival Tour stop in Austin, TX back in April of 2011.

Last night we enjoyed some excellent food, amazing wine, and great music at Marina Kitchen’s first Winemakers Dinner. The five course culinary experience prepared by Marina Kitchen’s executive chef Aron Schwartz was incredible and was complimented perfectly with wines provided by Pali Wine Company, Moonwalker Cellers and The Hitching Post. While our pallets were dancing with precisely blended flavors, our ears were being serenaded with music from Argentine vocalist Maria de la Paz and Brazilian guitarist David Scheid.

Aside from enjoying all the good eats and drinks, we were told the story behind some of the wines by winemakers Gray Hartley and Aaron Walker. They specifically talked about the “perfect set”, a Pinot Noir by The Hitching Post with grapes from the Fiddlestix Vineyard. It was really interesting to hear them speak about how certain barrels were really “singing” to them and helped in determining which barrels were going to be used in creating the “perfect set.” It’s always nice to enjoy the experience and that was made even better when we got an understanding of how the experience began, even before we were a part of it.

General Manager Michael Miller and Beverage Director Josh Orr of the Marina Kitchen, did an excellent job of bringing everything together. This was a great event with the with the perfect blend of class, casual and fun which paired flawlessly with the food and wines that were being featured. We hope to experience more events like this at the Marina Kitchen located in San Diego’s Marriott Marquis & Marina.
