AWG initially began in 2020 as the Discord server “let’s #escapril” dedicated to Savannah Brown’s #Escapril challenge. We rebranded the server in 2023 to Adventurer’s Writing Guild (AWG) to incorporate other writing challenges and community needs!

My name is Abdullah Khaled Al-Haj, from Gaza, and I am 21 years old. I once lived a life of comfort and hope, but recent changes have brought me immense hardship.
Before my father's passing, our lives were full of comfort and care. I wore the finest clothes, enjoyed the best foods, and lived in a comfortable home. I worked hard and had a passion for sports, especially bodybuilding and weightlifting. Each morning, I would get up to enjoy time with friends, and my mother and younger siblings, whom I now care for, were happy and hopeful.
However, things changed drastically. We lost our father, who died in my arms at the hospital while we awaited treatment that never came. This loss marked the beginning of a challenging new phase in our lives.
Today, I no longer have suitable clothing or shoes, and I struggle to secure daily sustenance. I have lost weight from 90 kilograms to 60 kilograms due to the harsh conditions. I no longer sleep on a comfortable bed but sometimes on the sand.
The city of Gaza, which was once full of hope, has been completely destroyed, including my home that held all my childhood memories and dreams. Instead of waking up to enjoy good food and exercise, I now wake each day to search for food and water for my family, often finding myself unable to meet their basic needs.

Hello, I'm Bilal 🇵🇸 After 150 days of displacement, I found myself forced to leave my home and land in Gaza. 🏡💔 The journey to Egypt was not a choice, but a necessity imposed by the harsh conditions. I crossed the border, carrying with me scattered dreams and hopes for a better life, but I quickly realized that displacement was not the end of the suffering, but the beginning of a new chapter.
In Egypt, we are stuck between a bitter alienation and a painful reality. 😔🚧 We do not have residency, which makes every step difficult and every day full of challenges. Prices in Egypt resources are unforgiving, and the ones we brought with us are quickly melting away. 💸 While we try to endure and survive, our hearts remain attached to Gaza; The homeland that never leaves our minds or leaves us for a moment. 🇵🇸💔 Our loved ones there live under siege, and we live under the burden of alienation and worry for them. Every day in Egypt feels like an endless wait, and every contact with Gaza opens a door to pain. 📞💔 Returning to Gaza did not alleviate the anxiety, but rather confirmed to me that the suffering continues, whether we are inside or outside.

My name is Hashem from Gaza. I am 32 years old and my wife, Samar, is 27 years old. We have a child born in the eighth month of pregnancy. His mother was premature because of my wife's fear of war. My large family consists of 8 members: my father, mother, four male brothers and 2 females. My father died in the war due to a lack of medicine in hospitals as a result of the fierce war on Gaza.
My story began when we were displaced from our home in northern Gaza in mid-October 2023 after a letter threatening eviction, and then the house was targeted and destroyed. Between this Exodus and the current fifth Exodus there are many stories and sufferings.
We now live in plastic tents, which are thermal ovens, which are not suitable for living and do not provide the minimum necessities of life, in addition to the spread of epidemics and diseases, which puts our lives in danger.
Through this campaign, we are trying to collect enough money to meet our needs and get us out of the Gaza Strip safely. We ask you to stand by us and protect us from this severe danger.

I am speaking to you from the heart of the suffering of the displacement camps where I have finally completed the twenty-sixth displacement here, west of Deir al-Balah.
Where there is famine, where there is a water cut-off, where there is no source of potable water, and if it is available, our share is very small and is not enough for my family of 6 people.
Also here, where the skin disease has spread, for which there is no treatment that ends it, and the existing treatment is a painkiller that extinguishes it for two days, and then it returns with force. Unfortunately, this treatment is expensive and I cannot provide it for my wife and children, and for me as well, it exceeds $40 every three days.
I am speaking to you from the tent, whose heat is unbearable and its cold as well, as we have completed all the seasons in the tents.
Here I am begging you to stand by me more so that I can help my family so that I can provide the treatment that exceeds $70 every week for my father who is struggling with the disease and the amputation of his entire heel and now has a complete blockage of the femoral arteries of the feet.

Khadija Al-Habil (@girlquee) and Yousef Al-Habil (@saveyouseffamily) are a lovely couple who truly love and care for each other.
They also have the cutest baby named Majd! He is their pride and joy. Like any loving parent, they will do everything to keep him happy, healthy, and safe. (I would protect him, too, even though I'm not a parent! 🥺)
Unfortunately, while the airstrikes have destroyed their home and everything they love, Majd suffers the most. Not only his initial exposure to the world is the constant fear and horror, but he is chronically ill with a severe respiratory illness (AND he recently got an eye infection from a bug bite!)
Khadija and Yousef have shared the latest update, as well: Majd has a chest infection, and he is currently in the hospital in the due to the lack of oxygen. The poor baby has to use an oxygen tank. But this is only a temporary solution. Khadija, Majd, and Yousef need to evacuate NOW!
The air is NOT safe for Majd and his tiny lungs!

One day I woke up to the sound of my little Celine moaning, who was suffering from a high temperature, heart pain, and abnormal hallucinations.
We called the ambulance. The bombing was continuing, and there was also no transportation. It came after waiting half an hour of anxiety and we quickly went to Al-Aqsa Hospital. I was hoping to receive the appropriate treatment, but the war destroyed everything and destroyed the health system.
