Public Instagram users, heads up -- Meta just made your images available for AI use.
This reached me through a newsletter I subscribe to (Daily Tech Insider -- I don't know that I recommend it, it's kind of spammy, but does occasionally provide useful intel on AI) and I couldn't find a public version of it to link to so I'mma just copypaste the newsletter's content here:
Meta just launched Muse Image, its new AI image generator, across Instagram, WhatsApp, and the Meta AI app. It edits photos, generates social-ready images, and powers new Instagram Stories effects. Public Instagram accounts are automatically eligible for AI remixing. Someone can tag a public profile and create new images using that person's photos. Meta says users can opt out (currently only on mobile), but the default leaves photos in play. Worse, users aren't notified when AI content is created with their material, and opting out won't delete images that already exist. Meta is, however, applying an invisible "Content Seal" watermark to track AI origins, and a detection tool is available online for anyone to check images.
The detection tool is actually slightly useful, in that if you want to check if an image is AI generated you can pop it in there, but it will only tell you if it was AI generated through Muse Image. According to Meta, "Images created by Muse Image in the Meta AI app [...] carry a hidden provenance signal that stays intact — even when cropped, compressed, resized, or screenshotted." Which honestly just means that anyone seeking to use AI images for nefarious purposes won't use Meta, and we'll see how long the content seal protocol lasts before Meta wants higher traffic and does away with it.
To switch it off on mobile, go into your settings:
Self-managed abortion (SMA) with pills is very medically safe and effective throughout early pregnancy, but there is a significant risk of criminalization in many U.S. states. While it is impossible to fully eliminate the risk of criminalization when having or planning to have an abortion at home, t
Leave no online footprint of searches or purchases. Digital Defense Fund’s abortion privacy guide is your go-to resource for this. Using private browsers, two-factor authentication, encrypted messaging, strong passwords, etc. is critical. Google searches have been presented as evidence in an SMA trial before. Do not leave a digital trail.
Use the medications properly to prevent interactions with healthcare providers. The pills are very effective, but they have to be used right. Carefully follow the instructions provided on the How to Use Abortion Pill website. Note that misoprostol tablets should always be taken by dissolving them under the tongue. Do NOT insert misoprostol vaginally if you are self-managing an abortion. While this is medically safe, it can leave incriminating pill remnants that can be detected in the vagina during a pelvic exam if you end up needing to seek medical care.
If it’s not an emergency but you need expert health advice, use a free calling service like Google Voice to call or text the Miscarriage + Abortion Hotline at 1-833-246-2632. Medical complications are very uncommon with abortion pills, but they’re not impossible. The M+A Hotline is safe to use and is staffed by trustworthy clinicians who volunteer their time to help those who choose SMA. Do not use your own phone number to call as this will create a record that is visible to your cell service provider.
Don’t disclose any information about SMA to emergency room staff if you do need to seek medical care. This is how most people who are arrested for SMA are reported. Healthcare providers are almost always who calls the police in cases of SMA criminalization. Contrary to popular belief, HIPAA does not protect your private health information from being shared with police if you are suspected of doing something that could be considered a crime. If you believe you need to seek urgent medical care, do not hesitate to go. Say “I think I’m having a miscarriage” and provide your symptoms. Do not mention any use of or purchase of abortion pills. There is no widely available test to detect misoprostol in your bloodstream. If you do not disclose it, there is no way for a medical provider to tell the difference between a medication abortion and a spontaneous miscarriage.
Do not talk to the cops. Period. Do. Not. Talk. To. The. Cops. If you are questioned by police you should state, “I am exercising my right to remain silent, and I wish to speak with an attorney.” Do not speak again or nod in response to a question. Contact the Repro Legal Helpline as soon as possible for expert legal advice: 1-844-868-2812. Do not agree to questioning or speak to any law enforcement official without a lawyer present.
to all the non-delhi residents/people who can't join the protest for xyz reason, who are feeling helpless and guilty and don't know what to do: spread the word.
no, seriously, spread the word. there is so much misinformation out there, partly due to the useless indian media channels who are calling protestors fighting for a chance to be heard "terrorists". they're saying that the protestors are committing brutality (like throwing stones) against the police when it is the opposite.
its a police using teargas and batons against teenagers, women and literal children. they're ripping the clothes of the women. people are badly injured. all because our corrupt coward "education" minister cannot take accountability for paper leak which caused over 20 deaths by suicide.
some are trying to derail the protests, calling the protestors "anti-national" and but you have to do your part in ensuring that this revolution isn't over until dharmendra pradhan resigns and the youth of india are heard and acknowledged. it will save the future of the students who are currently preparing/will prepare for similar exams.
spread the videos of the police brutality (save them if you can), write emails to the pmo, and share as much info as you can about the protest; how and why it is happening. speak up; online and also in real life, translate posts/videos, make your own. correct and educate people who are still against this movement. don't let this die out until our government finally listens to its citizens.
don't stop making noise.
No one fired pellet guns in Delhi.
Yet, Irshad Mansoori, 25, and Sahil Lochab, 19, are lying in Delhi hospitals post surgeries with serious pellet injuries on their faces and bodies. Lochab has '1% possibility' of regaining vision in his right eye. And there's a third victim, a reporter with Outlook, who was hit by pellets on the same day Someone owes 25-year-old Irshad Mansoori an explanation. He lies in a hospital bed with a pellet lodged near a blood vessel in his neck even after undergoing a surgery on July 21. Someone should also explain to 19-year-old Sahil Lochab, recovering from a surgery on July 22, how he received a grievous eye injury and multiple pellet wounds across his body. Delhi Police has repeatedly insisted that it did not use pellet guns during the July 20 march. No other security agency has acknowledged deploying them either. Over the past two days, Alt News met both young men, spoke to their families and friends, and traced a chain of evidence that raises a simple question: If no pellet guns were fired, how did they end up in hospital with pellet injuries?
[...]
On July 21, acting on a tip-off, Alt News reached Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), where Irshad Mansoori was undergoing treatment. We met his friend outside the hospital, who said he was Mansoori’s only support at the hospital. Mansoori, 25, is originally from Jabalpur and works at a private company in Gurugram. The friend told us that Mansoori was near Connaught Place on July 20 when he was struck by pellets allegedly fired from a distance of around 40 to 50 metres. A selfie taken from Mansoori’s hospital bed shows multiple small wounds across his face and neck. Three pellets — one beneath his eye, another lodged close to a blood vessel in his neck, and a third in his facial cavity — caused particularly serious injuries. His friend told Alt News that he had signed the consent form before surgery but that neither he nor Mansoori had been given information about the treatment. He also alleged that hospital authorities refused to hand over even the CT scan report. When Alt News approached the doctor who had come out of the operation theatre after Mansoori’s surgery, he declined to comment and directed us to the institute’s director instead. Around the same time, Mansoori’s friend, who had gone inside to see him after surgery, messaged one of the Alt News correspondents saying he would step out shortly. Minutes later, he wrote that he was not being allowed to leave the ward. He described an incident in which someone had arrived to meet another patient in the same ward, prompting what he said was a commotion involving the hospital administration and eventually the institute’s director. According to him, security personnel were posted outside the ward after that. By around 10 pm on July 22, Mansoori told Alt News he still had not been allowed to access documents relating to his own treatment. Speaking to Alt News from his hospital bed, Mansoori further said, “I am in no position to press the hospital over my rights as a patient at the moment, especially because I do not have any real support system here. My only focus is on recovering properly and quickly. Right now, I am in a lot of pain in the eye, face and upper body because of the surgery and the pellets.” “I am really worried about how the injuries will affect my life. I think there needs to be some compensation for my loss,” he said, while almost breaking down. Mansoori was conscious and alert when he arrived at the hospital. He told us he was aware that another protester had also suffered pellet injuries and asked about his condition. When we informed him that 19-year-old Sahil Lochab, admitted to another hospital, could permanently lose vision in one eye, he was shocked.
[...]
Sahil, 19, a resident of Najafgarh, told us, “I had gone to the protest, and was somewhere around Jantar Mantar when I was hit with the pellets. I do not remember the exact time right now. I was looking in another direction when the pellets hit me.” He sustained injuries to his right eye, face, chest, back, arm and the right side of his body. “I was first taken to LHMC by two fellow protestors. My mother along with my maternal uncle came to LHMC. After keeping me there for sometime, I was taken to Safdarjung Hospital and then to AIIMS. I have not been able to see from my right eye since the injury took place.” His mother, Jyoti, told us, “The hospital authorities at LHMC informed us that Sahil cannot be treated here for the lack of facilities required in this case, and thus Sahil is referred to another hospital, but here during admission process (at AIIMS), they did not accept the reason of referral and I was made to sign on papers which did not mention the reason for referral from LHMC at all.” His maternal uncle, Sultan, said Sahil waited for several hours before undergoing surgery after midnight on July 21. “Most of his outer portion of the eye, the white portion has been destroyed and the first surgery was about this white portion. The second surgery will take place in seven days, when the middle layer will be operated upon. Doctor told us that there is only 1% probability of regaining vision in the right eye.” When Alt News met the family around 6 pm on July 22, they said they had still not received any document relating to Sahil’s treatment.

The leftist was involved in the deadly 1972 attack on Lod Airport in Israel, in which 26 people died
24 july 2026 (okamoto's death was announced 23 july)
Kozo Okamoto, a Japanese leftist who took part in a deadly attack on Lod Airport in Israel in 1972 and spent much of his life in Lebanon, has died in Beirut aged 78. [...] Okamoto joined two other members of the Japanese Red Army in an attack on Lod Airport, now Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv on 30 May 1972. The three men arrived on a flight from Europe before retrieving rifles and grenades from their luggage and opening fire. Okamoto’s two comrades died, while Israeli forces wounded and captured him. The attack, organised with the PFLP, killed 26 people, including 17 Christian pilgrims from Puerto Rico, and eight Israelis. The PFLP said the operation came in response to Israel’s 1968 assault on Beirut International Airport, during which Israeli commandos destroyed more than a dozen civilian aircraft resulting in widespread international condemnation. An Israeli court sentenced Okamoto to life imprisonment. Israel released him in 1985 after 12 years as part of a prisoner exchange with Palestinian resistance groups. While in prison, Okamoto spent much of his sentence in solitary confinement and was forced to “eat from the ground like a dog, with his hands cuffed behind his back,” according to the PFLP. He later reached Lebanon and received political asylum. Lebanese authorities arrested him and four other Japanese nationals in 1997 over their immigration status. Beirut returned the other four to Japan in 2000 but allowed Okamoto to remain, repeatedly rejecting Japanese demands for his extradition. During his Lebanese trial, Okamoto described himself as “an Arab resistance fighter”. He made a rare public appearance in May 2022 at a Beirut cemetery containing the graves of Palestinian resistance figures, marking 50 years since the airport attack. The Japanese Red Army emerged in 1971 as an internationalist, far-left group closely connected to the Palestinian struggle. It carried out several overseas operations before eventually disbanding. Okamoto remained in Lebanon until his death, remembered by supporters across the region as a figure who left his homeland to stand with Palestinians confronting occupation.
Since the start of 2026, the civil defence in Gaza cannot pay wages for its workers who received only 656 USD since then. How can someone live 7 months on this amount? The European Union and so-called human rights organisations treat civil sectors employees of Gaza as Hamas and never fund their efforts in any capacity which imperils them and their lives, as we have seen in the systematic targeting of these civil servants. I have also been told by sources on the ground that one police member earns only 325 USD in three months. Police members have been conflated with Hamas to justify murdering them. They have been the subject of one of the most brutal terror campaigns falsely labelled as Hamas. Help civil rights to flourish in Gaza. Donate to the Gaza municipality to keep its indispensable operations going for people. Share and donate now: gaza-city.org/campaign/1
It takes a little bit of effort but it should be possible to send money through your banking app. The SWIFT code and all details are in the link above.
This is urgent because Israel has planned to shut down Gaza banks in August.
For Palestinian shepherds in the Jordan Valley and Masafer Yatta — a cluster of villages in Palestine’s occupied West Bank — Israeli flags marking expanding illegal settlements and outposts have become inescapable features of the landscape.
As illegal settlers steadily take over Palestinian land and isolate communities that have lived there for generations, some Palestinian families have sold their flocks or stopped using areas they usually use for grazing, while many have altered their daily routines.
Settler attacks have also increased sharply in 2026. Some pastures are no longer considered safe, while others can be reached only when Israeli activists accompany Palestinian shepherds, documenting encounters with illegal settlers and Israeli troops and providing what they call a “protective presence”.

Hey all! Normally when I post for Mona's community aid initiative, I post about the communities of refugees she is helping. But today I went to Instagram to update you all and saw that she hasn't posted since April, and we hadn't spoken since then either. She hadn't messaged me updates like she normally does. I was very afraid. It turned out she had broken her phone during a displacement, and she hasn't been able to replace it due to the high costs. Mobile phones are a scarce and expensive resource in Ghazzah but they are a lifeline for the families there. And for Mona it is not just a lifeline for her family but also for the refugee community she has dedicated the last few years of her life serving. She cannot connect with her usual network of volunteers or access funds without her phone (she had to contact me through her mother's phone). Despite helping displaced refugees, her and her family are also displaced refugees also living out of a tent, and she cannot currently afford a replacement. Please please please help her get a new one so she can continue doing the life-saving work she has been doing. Chuffed link to support Mona.
Every single dollar counts!!

Please help Ahmed with medical debts
Hi, I'm Sara, I am raising funds for a family in Gaza to help them survive and with medical bills. I have been in contact with this family f
The good news is that Ahmed and his father finally found someone to create a new campaign for them. Unfortunately, while they were without a way to fundraise, Ahmed had to take on debts to get his father the operation he needed.
Ahmed needs to pay off €270 in medical debt. Right now, this is what the funds collected will be going towards, unless another more urgent need arises.
Vetting information can be found here. Please note that the campaign linked is the old one.
Current progress: €0/270
€10/270
We have only raised €10 so far. Please share and donate if you can

Unfortunately, there has been no change! Please donate and share. Ahmed has debt from medical expenses and needs to pay them off as soon as possible! Remember, you can give as little as a dollar and in your own currency, such as AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, or USD!
Verification: As it is mentioned above, this is a brand new fundraiser! Information about his previous fundraiser can be found here.
