Lizardcub was found by Shiningsoul on patrol, and brought back to camp. It didn’t take long for them to discover that he was mute, unable to say anything about his past. 

Snowtuft took him in, since she’d just kitted, although she was a little wary about him being so near her newborn kits, especially with the loss of Stillcub. Slowly though, she opened up, and now sees him as one of her own.

Lizardcub can often be found spending time with Flameriver, who Shiningsoul recently decided will be the mute cub’s mentor, alongside of Cloudpaw since there are so many young cats in the clan.

Mystclan:: Post 3

With the excitement of the Gathering behind them, Shiningsoul and Raventail returned home to find Snowtuft in a flurry over her upcoming kitting. The other two she-cats then moved into overdrive, preparing the den, cleaning out her nest, and doing one last check of the territory to make sure that the borders were secure before new kittens came into the clan. They'd actually found a cat, a multicolored tomcat calling himself Flame. In a hurried ceremony he'd been named Flameriver, before Shiningsoul had shooed him out of the camp to hunt and patrol while Snowtuft kitted. The tension in camp was heavy, especially without a mage to guard over Snowtuft's kitting. Shiningsoul paced around the camp several times, before putting Raventail in charge and heading off for the Dusk Lake to ask the ancestors properly for a healer.

Shiningsoul had noticed a bit of extra tension laying in the fact that Flameriver was the first tom to arrive in the clan, and with two she-cats high on hormones, it probably wasn’t the best idea to leave him alone with the two, but she didn’t have much of a choice, she had to get a mage for Snowtuft. And for later on, but primarily for the kittings. Shiningsoul was basically still a kit herself, only nineteen moons for starclans sake, once cadets moved on they’d only just now be mating with their chosen partners. What was she to know about this sort of thing?

Flameriver - Male - Heterosexual - Loner -> Guardian

Flameriver couldn’t have joined Mystclan at a more tense time. The very day he’d joined and gotten his name in a hurried ceremony, before being shooed out of the camp so as not to bother Snowtuft who’d started kitting about twenty minutes before.

Flameriver tends to sit on the outskirts of the camp, since two nurses with raging hormones tend to lash out at unfamiliar tomcats who get too close. 

Shiningsould’s been trying to get the others to warm up to him, and she thinks with the arrival of Cloudpaw, Raventail and Snowtuft will start to let him near their children.

At this time Flameriver has no mate and no cubs

Mystclan:: Post 2

Two Nurses Shiningsoul couldn't be happier. Not only had she gotten a nurse who was due to kit the following moon, but as she'd walked the borders of the valley she'd found a raven pelted nurse who had just found herself pregnant, and ran from her twolegs in order to avoid losing her cubs. Their original names were Snowflake and Raven. Shiningsoul had, after giving them a sort of rundown on how things worked in Mystclan, renamed them to Snowtuft and Raventail. Since Snowtuft was a lot closer to her kitting than Raventail,Shiningsoul had given her the order to remain in the camp until the cubs were old enough to eat meat. Raventail she allowed out to patrol with her. The exercise, if done properly, would do the cubs good. Too much would harm both them and their mother though, so Shiningsoul limited her only to normal patrols, and then only one per half moon.

Snowtuft felt like a beached whale. Correction, the whales at her old sea-side home were skinnier than she was. She'd been pregnant for about a moon already, but she already knew that her stomach had to be bloated beyond repair. She'd never be skinny again, she was doomed to be a fat old elder for the rest of her days. Her mate, an absolute piece of trash whose name shall never again be spoken by decent cats had dumped her when she'd broken the absolutely amazing news, shortly after which she'd received a dream to come here, to Mystclan, where her kits would be appreciated. There was another queen too, Raventail. She was rather...distant, and seemed to be much calmer about her pregnant state than Snowtuft. Of course, Raventail had only recently gotten pregnant before she'd found her way to Mystclan territory. Snowtuft was quite convinced that Raventail would soon be sharing her grievances.

Snowtuft was a kittypet. There was no doubt about it. Every time Raventail got close enough to talk to her, Snowtuft was going on about how things had once been. Idiotic. Raventail was a loner by birth. She'd wandered more alleys and forests than she could count. She had heard stories about clans, albeit they were different from Mystclan where she now resided. She had even thought about joining more than one on multiple occasions. Of course, that had been before she'd gotten pregnant. It had been a one night thing, the tom was cute, she had no shame in admitting, and she hadn't been expecting to get pregnant. Then she's known she couldn't let her kits...her cubs make the same mistake. So she'd sought out the closest clan, and had ended up in this foggy valley. It was...different, but with the only cats thus far being female, Raventail knew her children could be born in safety. Unless of course males showed up, but even if they did, Ravenclaw would see too it that they knew she and her brood were off limits.

Raventail - Female - Pansexual - Rouge -> Nurse

Raventail was born a wild cat. She thinks she had some siblings, but she doesn’t remember them very well, since their mother, due to the culture of their area, dropped each of them off at different parts of the forest when they were young, the idea being if they can’t survive then they don’t deserve to.

Raventail, at the time only knowing that her name was Raven and the basic survival instincts, technically cheated her test by running into another cat from a different family, and working with him to survive.

Eventually, as they grew older, they became mates. Their first litter ended in miscarriage, and it was a long while before Raventail was ready to try it again. Finally though, her mate decided that he’d waited long enough and vanished in the night.

In anger, Raventail went blindly after him, desperate to prove she wasn’t afraid of having kits. She ran into a different tom on the way, flicked her tail and batted her eyelashes, and left the next morning expecting. 

A few days later, when she still hadn’t caught up with her mate, the seriousness of what she’d done caught up with her, and she began to search for the clans she and her mate had once spoken of. She found Mystclan, and joined it a few days later. Her kits are not yet born, but she knows that when they are she will do everything in her power to keep toms away from them.

Snowtuft - Female - Heterosexual - Loner -> Nurse

Snowtuft was born in a fishing village, and grew up with the rest of the town’s many cats, who had been imported to deal with the rat problems. Snowtuft, born Snowflake, ended up falling in love with a tomcat, only to get dumped when she told him. A few days later she recieved a dream to travel to Mystclan, where her then unborn children would be appreciated. 

Snowtuft, though never living with twolegs, has a bit of a kittypet attitude when it comes to some things. Her children, Whalecub, Frostcub, Dockcub, and Rustcub, she is determined to keep from meeting the same fate, and plans to work with Shiningsoul on finding their mates, and already has an eye on Lizardcub for her only daughter Frostcub. Even though he’s mute, Lizardcub is quite cute, and knows that if the clan raises him, he’ll turn out alright.

Mystclan:: Post 1

Alright, so I’ll be posting Mystclan’s posts same as I do here, and with the ‘replies’ at the bottom.

Mystclan... Such a mysterious name. Shiningsoul loved it. The Myst in it could mean anything, Mystery, Mystical, or even just plain old Mist. It held possibility, it held excitement. It held secrecy. Shiningsoul was a cat who loved secrets. That was how she'd thrived in the metal pathways of her old home. By knowing secrets, she'd kept herself alive. No one held their tongue around a kitten, because they didn't expect said kitten to have a perfect memory. By using secrets she'd learned in her kitten days, Shiningsoul had risen, and stayed in power in the twolegplace. But even at the top of the food chain, with other cats, cats much older than her crawling forwards and begging for mercy for their actions, she had not been truly happy. She had always had a restless soul, the type that made you wonder, just what lay beyond the bleak fog of the city air. She'd been waiting for an excuse to leave, to explore...and one night she'd gotten it. A dream, sent from the heavens, telling her to go out and find a hidden valley, shrouded in mystery. That was where she'd gotten the name. Mystery, Fog, hidden between five towering peaks. It was the perfect name. Shiningsoul knew she was on the young side to be a leader. Or, technically a kami. When she'd had the dream, telling her about all the rules and terms and everything, she may or may not have said, in an entirely respectful tone "Screw your terms, I'm gonna call my clanmates whatever the heck I want." So maybe it wasn't those exact words, but the meaning was definitely received by the starry cats. She had woken up rather abruptly after that, with the thrumming of new lives powering her paws. They'd told her about that too. The pain had been really annoying, and her bones had felt stiff, like she was some thousand moon old cat. Which was part of the reason she'd avoided seeking out a 'place of power' as they'd called it. She'd found a possible one on her way to the mountains though. A shining lake that lay just in front of two of the mountains. It fed into a river, that seemed to go down quite a ways, but she had ignored that, she was more interested in the lake itself. It practically radiated power, reflecting the stars perfectly. But she wasn't interested in the stars. Shiningsoul had always been taught that the time with the most power, the greatest connection to the ancestors, was dusk. That was why she was calling it the Dusk Lake. Shiningsoul's pelt was white and gray, and as she stepped through the fog that protected Mystclan's valley, she felt the soft white cloud-like material almost clinging to her pelt, whispering for her to go back into its safe embrace. She was tempted, but she also had a mission. Mystclan would never grow if she sat in her protected valley forever. She would never learn anyone's secrets. So she'd decided upon the perfect request. A nurse. A she-cat with kits, or cubs as she'd decided to call them, determined to defy the ancestors terminology to the very end, Shiningsoul knew would draw more cats in. Cubs needed protection, cats to provide them food. As long as she had cubs in the clan, she could attract more cats. That was why she'd set up the particular laws of Mystclan, particularly those pertaining to mates and litters. Some might be confused, even repelled, but it would guarantee Mystclan's survival. She could deal with a few Akumas if she had to, replacing the elderly with traitors probably not the wisest decision on her part, but once a cat retired, really what were they good for? They could instead go to the Dusk Lake and die, joining the ancestral guard who would watch over them from above, who would guide new souls into her clan. Everything had an end goal, and for Shiningsoul, her end goal for creating Mystclan was having a better legacy than 'she who stole secrets'. Oh she would still steal secrets in order to stay in power, but in the end she would be known as she who created the clan. She who protected us all. She who redefined the laws of survival.

shiningsoul's request was granted. she finds a nurse who's kits are due in one moon. on patrol, she found another nurse with kits due in two moons. shiningsoul caught three mice.

Shiningsoul - Female - Heterosexual -  Loner -> Kami

No cat holds their tongue around a kit, that is how Shine, an eight moon old she-cat rose to power in the twolegplace of her birth. She stayed in control through secrets and blackmail, until the age of fourteen moons, when she first received the dream of the stars, the call to create a clan.

Shine, ever unique, decided that, she didn’t want to create a clan exactly like all the other clans lying around. She wanted to create something different. She spent four moons working out terms, laws, and other such details. She even spoke to a few ancestors who were more open minded to work out some more of the...gritty details. 

Finally, at the age of eighteen moons, Shine became Shiningsoul, and in the valley of five mountains, officially became the leader of Mystclan.

She has no mate, and no kits as of this time.

Mystclan Ranks

The ranks of Mystclan are as mysterious as the cats, here is an in-depth explanation as to what they are, their responsibilities and powers, and their drawbacks. 

Kami::

The Kami is the leader of Mystclan. Instead of having a name ending in -star, their name ends in -soul. The Kami is responsible for keeping the members of the clan safe from threats, both inside and out. If a traitor is found, especially among the higher ranks, then it reflects upon the Kami for trusting them, unless the cat was still in the Akuma rank.

It is also the duty of the Kami to test Akumas, to determine how long they must be tested, to decide if they are trustworthy, and to kill or drive them away if they are not proven loyal.

Instead of two litters with each mate, the Kami is only required to have at least three litters, no matter how many mates they have. It is frowned upon for them to have more than two mates though.

Keeper:: The Keeper is the deputy of Mystclan. They are responsible for choosing the cat who will be the next Keeper, by choosing a Cadet they feel will be able to fill their paws. 

Typically, the Keeper will only ever train a single Cadet whilst in the Keeper role, unless the Cadet is disqualified or killed before the Kami’s death. Any Cadets trained while the Keeper is a Guardian are not eligible for the role, unless the Keeper-trained dies before the current Kami loses all of his lives, then the first-trained is next in line, unless or until the Keeper trains a new Cadet.

Mage:: The healer of Mystclan, the Mage’s name will always end in -spirit. The Mage is responsible for keeping the belief of Starclan strong within Mystclan, and for keeping the cats healthy. 

The Mage will often accompany the Kami to the Dusk Lake, to strengthen the connection to the spirits. The Mage is often, but not always, able to see and speak to the spirits of the dead.

The Mage is the only full rank in Mystclan forbidden from having kits. The belief is that if a Mage has kits, their responsibility will be shirked, and the clan’s belief will die. If a Mage is found to be pregnant, or to have given kits while in the rank, they are to be placed as Akuma for a minimum seven moons, often longer. Usually, the Kami is unable to find them trustworthy after breaking such a great law, and they are killed or banished at the end of their trial.

Guardians:: Guardians are the fighters and hunters of Mystclan. It is their job to train Cadets, hunt to keep the clan fed, fight to keep the clan safe, and bear cubs to keep the clan alive. 

When a Cadet becomes a Guardian at the age of seventeen moons, they are assigned a mate. Either the youngest available guardian, a new guardian from their training cycle, or promised the eldest Cadet, depending on the choices. If a Guardian joins the clan from being a loner however, they are allowed to choose their mate, with permission from the Kami of course.

Before a Guardian can retire, they must have trained two Cadets fully, and had at least two litters with each of their mates, the exception being if a mate dies, or if they become Kami or Mage.

When a Guardian retires, they are sent to the Dusk Lake. There, an ancestor will possess them, and deliver a prophecy to the Kami, the Mage, and any family the cat might have within the clan. After that the spirit will kill the cat and take them to the skies. It is seen as a great honor to live long enough to retire, as the retirement age is one hundred and fifty moons, and very few cats actually live that long.

Akumas:: Akumas are prisoners, cats seeking to join Mystclan who had been members of other clans, cats who had been revealed to be part of a forbidden relation, children of a forbidden relation, and so on. 

Akumas are put on trial, with a minimum sentence of two moons and a maximum sentence of twenty moons.

It is absolutely forbidden to take a mate or have cubs while in the akuma rank, UNLESS the cubs were already conceived. 

Cadets:: Cadets are apprentices, those in-training. Their only job is to focus for the future, training to become the next Guardians of Mystclan. After all, one day the guardians will be dead, unable to fight for Mystclan. It will be the next generation, the Cadets of the past, who must step up to fight for their Kami, their friends, and their cubs.

Cadets are discouraged from making relationships beyond battle-friendships, because of the whole ‘arranged mates’, and no cat wanting them to be discouraged or tempted by not getting a cat they are in love with for a mate. 

Nurses:: Queens, the mothers of nursing or weaning cubs, pregnant she-cats, or even toms filling in for dead she-cats. The Nurses are responsible for caring for cubs, no matter their origin, until they reach the age of six moons. 

After their cub reaches six moons and becomes either a cadet or an akuma, the Nurse will return to their normal duties. No matter the origin of a cub, a Nurse is to be kind and nurturing. It is their spirit-assigned duty to protect the young.

Any Nurses found harming or neglecting a cub, no matter their excuse, is to be put to instant death, and any of their children will become Akumas for a minimum of four moons.

Cubs:: Kits, the young of the clan. Cubs have no responsibility other than playing and enjoying their six moons of care-free life.

Once a cub reaches the age of six moons, depending on the actions of their parents, they will become either a Cadet and train instantly, or an Akuma and be forced to prove that they are not their family.

Mystclan live in the crook of five mountains, hidden away in a valley, below a blanket of fog that seems to always guard their heads. Cats rarely leave the valley, and when they do it's only for extended patrols, visits to the ancestors, and gatherings. They attempt to appear as mysterious and mystical, while at the same time they really just want friends.

Mystclan tend to do the opposite of normal clans. Instead of keeping their numbers low, for preservation of prey, they see young as a blessing, as well as the entire future of the clan, so mates are required to have at least two litters together, even if they split up. If you've been a mate with someone at some point, then you need to have at least two litters with them, even if they hate each others guts. It's not personal, it's just the law, and their entire way of keeping the clan alive. Of course this tends to lead to mentoring issues (as in the lack of enough mentors) so they train the cadets in bulk, with groups of two or three guardians.

They also do arranged mates for the first pairing. As soon as a cadet levels up, so to speak, they are assigned a mate, and instead of holding a silent vigil they are to spend the night trying for cubs. They aren't freaks though, and cadets are trained until the age of seventeen moons, instead of twelve, to ensure they are mature enough to be able to be full guardians of Mystclan, and that they will make good parents if the ancestors bless them on their first night as mates

Mystclan also doesn't have any elders. See, this is because when a guardian retires, they are sent to the Dusk Lake(a spiritual lake where the Kami goes to ask for new cats/advice/etc), where a spirit from the past will posses them, deliver a prophecy, and then take the guardian to join them in the skies.

Overall? They are a very messed up clan, but the members wouldn't have it any other way.
