The Final Battle: Castielle Vs. Thaddeus Vs. Silas Vs. Aphid
The four remaining tributes eyed each other, sizing up and determining their best chance of winning. So much was at stake for everyone involved. No one wanted to die twice, but three had to.
Each tribute finally decided on their first target. Just before Elias allowed them to begin, a silver parachute landed in front of Aphid. Aphid who was beginning to feel the effects of the slow-moving poison. If she didn’t act soon, Ridian would get his kill.
…Begin…
Thaddeus and Silas were first to react, charging towards each other, weapons raised. Sword and Scythe collided, creating small sparks and making a loud metallic noise that Thaddeus only wished he could hear. The district 11 boy took advantage of Silas’ weakened muscles, pushing him back and swinging his weapon sideways. Silas ducked quickly and brought his sword up between Thaddeus’ legs. With wide eyes, Thaddeus dropped the scythe, staring at Silas with an empty expression. Silas let out an animalistic roar, pulling the blade up until it found itself cutting through Thaddeus’ groin and into his stomach. Blood poured from the boy’s mouth as Silas shoved him back, sighing in relief at the sound of Thaddeus’ cannon.
On bended knee, Silas had no time to react to Castielle pulling his head back by his hair.
“You’re so weak you can’t even fight against a lower district.” She hissed, bringing her cattle prod up and placing it directly on Silas’ neck. Before she could turn it on, her stomach made itself known, shooting pain that Castielle felt up her spine. She shouted in pain, nearly dropping her precious cattle prod.
Silas spun around and grabbed her neck as she was bent over herself.
“Who’s weak now?” He said. That was when both of the tributes were unexpectedly drenched in water. Water that Aphid’s sponsors graciously sent her.
“Both of you idiots talk too much.” She said, cracking her cryo-whip at Silas. It wrapped itself around his wrist, leaking liquid nitrogen that traveled up his arm and made him scream. Aphid then cracked her normal whip at the frozen arm, breaking it off completely, But before he could scream again, Castielle kicked him in the head, making it jerk violently and breaking his neck.
This left both girls staring at each other. Only one more person stood in their way to victory, and both of them were willing to do whatever it took to get there.
Aphid acted quickly, striking the watered cobblestone that she made with her second bottle of water while the others were busy. It steamed and froze in place, blocking Aphid’s view of Castielle.
Things were quiet for a brief moment before Castielle came into view, sliding on the ice and blowing a poison dart at Aphid. It landed in her shoulder as Castielle came to a stop behind Aphid. The latter quickly spun around to keep the girl in sight but she was already on her feet, running around Aphid and taking advantage of her limitation. Aphid continue to turn, trying her best to keep her opponent in view. That was when she felt another dart dig itself into her back.
Aphid growled in frustration, uncoiling both whips and cracking them aimlessly around her. Castielle hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to get closure to her opponent. The whips were everywhere, creating a shield of sorts between her and Aphid. That moment’s hesitation cost Castielle as Aphid’s regular whip cracked the District 10 girl in the face, opening up a wound and knocking her back.
Castielle landed near her cattle pro and reached with all her might for it. When she got it in her grip she sat up, only to get Aphid’s regular whip around her neck tightly. Castielle would have screamed if her airway wasn’t cut off. Aphid then cracked her cryo-whip around the girl’s neck as well, further strangling her. Castielle already felt the liquid nitrogen creeping it’s way onto her neck. She had to think quickly if she really wanted to survive.
Castielle, desperate to win, turned her cattle prod on and pushed it onto the regular whip, sending the electric currents through the whip and to Aphid. What she wasn’t counting on was the current to reach her as well.
Both girls were stuck as their muscles constricted. Aphid knew one of them had to die and both girls were close to the end. She had a fair amount of poison in her system and the electricity couldn’t be helping. Castielle kneeled on the ground, suffocating and electrocuting herself accidentally.
Aphid’s leg twitched hard and she heard something snap, but she couldn’t feel it. She could see from here that Castielle’s eyes were bulging almost out of her head. This frustrated Aphid, how dare this girl take her time to die.
“Hurry up already!” She screamed through the currents. The arm that held her cryo-whip twitched violently, pulling the whip tighter. That was the finishing touch Aphid needed.
She heard a sickening as Castielle’s eyes popped completely out of her head and her neck snapped. The cannon fired as Aphid fell to the ground jerking around uncontrollably.
For a moment she thought it was her cannon until she saw the hovercraft lowering itself to retrieve Aphid herself.
She smiled to herself, mumbling as loud as she could “What a time to be alive…” before she blacked out.
Ladies and Gentleman, I give you our fifth victor: Aphid Blair!
The ground shook and brought the four remaining tributes above the cement blocks. It solidified to create large looking cobblestone.
That was when Elias' voice once again reached their ears.
"Congratulations for making it all the way here, tributes! Now is the time to show your three opponents just why it is you made it to the final four. There is no more trickery, just a good old fashioned battle to the death. Make it good, tributes!"
Each tribute made their way to a corner, waiting for Elias to start the battle.
10...9...8...
Aphid gingerly touched her leg wound, feeling some of the effects of the poison already. But regardless, she would fight until she won.
7...6...5...
Thaddeus could barely hear anything, but that had yet to render him defenseless yet. He'd taken on tributes and mutts alike just to get here, now all that stood in his way to victory was three more kills.
4...3...
Silas lost Quorra twice now, but winning was still important. He was weaker, but that didn't make him an easy target. He was still ruthless, and he'd prove it to anyone who thought otherwise.
2...1...
Castielle had spent most of the games hiding in the shadows and avoiding battle as much as possible. She had come close to death plenty of times, but she was in the final four for a reason. She was small, but she was smart.

TASK:
This is it, Tributes. This is the final battle. Every one in this battle has come here on their own. You have come out above the others and now you must earn your victory by battling the others. Each one of you are dangerous in your own way, now show your opponents how.
Who do you target first? Do you team up with others to take someone down? Keep in mind what it is you have and what they have. Supplies have been passed around like candy.
Sponsorship is open for this task if you still have it.
Be creative but be LOGICAL. And of course, keep in mind of your limitations. I have personally messaged every one of you what your limitation is. Make sure you write them in or you will lose the battle by default. Good luck, Tributes. Your victory awaits.
This task is due Sunday, January 5th at 9PM PST (midnight EST) NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN.
Aphid, Ridian, and Silas each took their own time to recuperate from the forced slumber of the white fog.
Ridian thought of a way to bring in his opponents, letting out a blood curdling scream the echoed throughout the entire arena. What he wasn’t prepared for was two tributes answering his call.
As he limped his way through the narrow passages, Ridian made sure to not make too much noise. What he didn’t anticipate was Silas taking the same approach. The District 2 boy threw the dagger he obtained from Quorra’s body at Ridian, opening a gash in the boy’s arm. Ridian spun around to face Silas.
Silas cringed slightly at the wound he inflicted. He had never been one for bloodshed, but he would do this for Quorra. Unsheathing his sword, Silas made to charge at the boy when something caught his eye from over Ridian’s shoulder.
Aphid had turned the corner to find the tributes about to battle. She locked eyes with Silas for a moment, winking at him since she couldn’t really move her head and hoping he understood what she meant. The district 2 boy nodded slightly, confusing a still oblivious Ridian. Silas charged at Ridian who reached into his boot for his slingshot. He shot a few pellets at Silas’ feet, making the career stumble a bit.
That was when Aphid cracked her cryo-whip at the boy’s neck. Ridian fell to his knees as the liquid nitrogen creeped onto his neck. He blindly sent one of his daggers flying at Aphid, getting her in the leg and injecting a small amount of poison. Aphid gritted her teeth, trying to keep from screaming as she tightened the hold around Ridian’s neck.
Silas reached the boy, staring at him for a moment as he struggled against the effects of Aphid’s whip. He jabbed his sword through Ridian’s stomach, moving it left and right to make the wound bigger.
Ridian’s cannon fired, signifying the one death needed to move on to the final battle. Aphid and Silas stared each other down for a moment before the ground beneath them began to shake and rise up.
The final four had been determined and the home stretch was just three kills away.
As the tributes woke in their designated spots around the new arena, Castielle was first to shake the sleep out of her system, dressing her bite wound with the medicine the sponsors gave her. She then began to run in zig-zags through the arena.
She wasn't sure who was around her, but she didn't want to stand in one place for too long. The arena was too quiet, making her more paranoid that she was hearing things.
That was when she heard another set of footsteps. She looked around and swore she saw someone disappearing down an alleyway. She kicked up her speed and ran the opposite direction, trying to put as much distance as she could between her and the tribute.
Castielle hid behind one of the blocks, trying desperately to catch her breath without making much sound. That was when she heard a blood curdling scream that echoed loudly throughout the arena's narrow passages. It made her heart stop for a moment.
Castielle heard a shuffling somewhere around her and she stopped breathing, trying not to make any noise in hopes that whoever it was would pass by.
After what felt like ages, it seemed whoever it was passed on and she let out a relieved breath. She had just enough time to duck with a yelp when the whip cracked where her head was.
She rolled out of the way and jumped a few steps back, seeing Thaddeus recoiling his whip to crack at Castielle again. The District 10 girl brought her cattle prod up, ready to strike. If she was going to die today, she wouldn't go down without a fight.
Thaddeus brought his double headed scythe up, charging at Castielle who took a deep breath and charged at him as well.
Just before the two tributes collided, the ground shook beneath them. In the distance they heard a cannon fire, signalling the one death needed to make it to the final battle. The tributes stepped away from each other as the ground began to rise, bringing them above the cement blocks.
