hi guys!! Every time I see a new Yugioh spinoff where duel monsters somehow absorbs even more of the world's economy I can't help but think "This is Kaiba's fault." It started with renting a whole city for a tournament, then funding a school dedicated to teaching it, and it all kind of got out of control from there.

“Kaiba Corp is focusing on the game industry,” said Seto Kaiba, as he proceeded to pave the way for Duel Monsters to become the only way to determine a person’s worth, a weapon, and the probable form of currency

Do they even have political elections at this point or is it just a big tournament, who wins gets a place in the government, any kid with a good deck can become the next president? which is probably what Kaiba would have wanted when it came to choosing Kaiba Corp’s next president

#I like this because it features Roy’s back, whereas most of it features Riza’s to the point where it is almost fetishizing this, like, creepy, potentially abusive thing that happened to her. #this is beautiful

Yes yes yes forever, and I love how this subtly evokes Riza’s dual promise to Roy, that she will guard his back (she seems to almost be warding off the viewer) but also that she will be the one to kill him if it becomes necessary. Roy has chosen to make himself vulnerable, as he appears to us here, to Riza, to trust himself to her skills and strength and conscience because he cannot entirely trust his own. Riza trusted him enough to leave her back open- to literally be naked to him- and he does the same (and in doing so effectively gives her back every bit of power over the secrets she carries, every bit of agency her father denied her- she can, if she chooses, wipe flame alchemy off the face of the earth).

I love that we don’t see Roy’s face here, that all we see is him open, vulnerable, passive and humbled in the arms of his protector who stares at us both fierce and conflicted, one hand clinging to him all affectionate and possessive, the other poised with a weapon that can point either way.
