eternatus, the first of the great old ones by percival β he/him, 32+ β
based on original lore, with hints of mythology of various sorts, arthurian legend, and the classic tolkien-adjacent touch, because that's my brand.
tales of the gods. cosmogony. rules under readmore.
i've been in the pokemon rpc for years you may know me as idanikou/kingsthunder i also am @/chevalear lmao i moved eternatus to a main blog. i can't be bothered for a full rules page right now but basically. just don't be weird. you guys know me and i know a large majority of you and i'm here to have fun.
most of my time is dedicated to my affiliated blogs, so don't expect activity here to be consistent ...
β You should know I don't blame you. I never have. β
The words come easily. It's something he's had a lot of time to ruminate on, carefully unweaving the complicated threads of it all until, at last, he could get to the centre of it all and put a name to the mess of feelings inside of him. Truly, there was only one person at fault for what happened.
His fingers play with the stitching of his cap brim just for something to do. It works, at least, his fidgeting distracting his mind long enough to let the words flow out.
β You were put in an impossible situation. I've tried to think, many times, about what I would have done if our places had been swapped. And yet, despite how many times I've tried to look at things from a different angle, I don't think there was any way for it to startβor indeed, endβpeacefully. β
β I'm not happy the attack happened, of course I'm not. But... If it had to happen... I'm glad I was its target, and not anyone else up there with me. β
A child wouldn't have survived such an attack. Leon knew it even at the time, and had sent Charizard to cover them as a countermeasure. Admittedly, that hadn't made the ensuing agony any easier to bear, nor had it lessened the guilt he carried for (even inadvertently) adding to the stress and trauma of an already high-stakes situation. But they had survived, all of them. And they're strong; they'll continue to survive.
β I know saying that you don't owe me an apology won't be a satisfactory answer. So instead, let me say: I forgive you, Gil. β
Slowly, Leon tips his head back, looking once more up at the sunset. It doesn't take much effort to recall how the skies had looked that day, but he doesn't summon those memories forth in this moment. There's no need to. What would be the point?
β Galar will heal, as she did once already. β A new Champion already sits at her helm, and one day it will find a new steward in Gilbert. The region's future is looking bright. β I'll heal too. The only thing I can ask is that you find a way to do the same. That's what we both deserve, right? β
galar will heal, leon says. i forgive you. gil feels like he might cry. leon is kind, and he's right. they both deserve to heal. β you are wise beyond your years, β
β i like that about you. β he likes a lot of things about leon, actually. as champion of the galar region, leon was an inspiration. gil had been an inspiration in a different way. where leon was a brave champion, undefeated. gilbert was a chivalrous noble and a powerful trainer in his own right. not that he was terribly interested in showing off as a trainer. no, his duty was to galar in a different way. when he believed himself to be only the human son of the prime minister ... things were easier back then.
sometimes, he wished for those days to return. he knows that won't happen.
i'll heal too, says leon. gilbert knows that this is also true. leon has been through so much in his brief lifetime; something that a god would miss in the blink of an eye. a human did not have to worry so much about that. leon was a breath in the existence of eternatus, but for gil, they were around the same age, weren't they? two young men who had been through far too much. through horrors they couldn't wish upon their worst enemies. at least ... leon wasn't that sort.
gilbert, as the noble steward prince, was also kind and gentle. eternatus was bitter and resentful, and planned to inflict the same horrors and worse upon the man who had caused so much of this pain. on chairman rose- but leon didn't need to know that. instead ...
he also hears the voices of young trainers. he remembers what it was like to be a kid, meeting new pokemon and working hard to be the best knight he could be- it brings a warmth to his chest. yes, galar is healing. they will heal, too.
β well ... aside from all of that, where have your adventures taken you as of late? since you no longer need to fulfill duties as champion, you have more free time, right? i would love to hear about all the places you've seen! β
the one shining light in the depths of hell is the fact he obtained a baby shiny dratini! although ... it seems to be different from others. a quick scan with a rotom phone revealed it to be a poison-ghost type, rather than a dragon. having been in the labs, it was an attempted clone of eternatus. gil's going to raise it as his son β and not think about how many people it took to keep it from hitting the ground before he gently tapped it with a pokeball β .
everything else, of course, sucked as expected. bren's fallen into some sort of trap door. they're about to face something horrific.

Vast and immeasurable is this being, whose Truth bleeds into the thin, imperceptible threads that wove the worlds together. The unicorn perceives only a fraction of it, cannot conceptualize the true breadth of its influence.
She had seen it before?
For it had always been present. Perhaps it is them who made the splits in the weave of the universe. Whose shadow cast over them when passing betwixt the worlds.
"Beginning and end," the horned beast echoes, endless eyes drawn to the fragments that puzzle together the being's new, humanoid shape. Unfamiliar yet, now; having seen it, breathed its presence and heard the Harmony in it's voice? Yes, she understood.
"You allowed me to see you, why now?" Ears forward and delicate head aloft, "I do not believe it is mere chance for us to speak."
γ nothing occurs solely by chance, γ says the old god, sound not quite aligning with the movement of its tulpa's lips- not yet. slowly, though, slowly and gently as it wove itself into the threads of space and time. it looks at her with kindness and sorrow- knowing all that had been, all that would be.
eternatus, after all, was everything. and so he had already lived the lives of all things. eternatus knew of each and every path that a being could travel. often, it watched from a distance, but sometimes ... sometimes it felt a calling to meet those who lived within the universes.
eternatus had always been a lonely deity. as such, it would inevitably come to reach out to others. to love and to ruin. γ i allow you to see me because i wish to be seen by you, γ he knows it's an odd reply, but when were the divine known to be anything but? eternatus knows though, the curiosity that lay deep within this lovely creature's mind. and eternatus was not one to deny answers to those who sought them.
γ and perhaps you have wished in your own way to see me. γ

The visage of Celeste in front of Gil was completely different compared to the quiet yet resolute performer that he was just starting to know. Despite the timid appearance, the fear in her eyes couldn't be missed as she shrank into herself on her bed. She was disheveled; sickly pale skin mixing together with hair that looked like it was rarely properly groomed.
Which made the contrast of this bedroom even more obvious. It looked very neat. The desk where papers of schoolwork laid on was organized, a play tent filled with plushes in the corner of the bedroom was spotless. And yet such delicate practices wasn't done for the girl's own self care.
She looked around ten. The average age of when children would start their Pokemon journeys if they already haven't started a path in furthering their education.
Wavering and tearing up orange orbs stared at the figure who somehow found himself here. Had a prince finally come to save her like in those fairy tales that used to be read to her?
But look at her. She's not pretty in the slightest. She stopped taking care of herself when the realization came that the intention was no one would be able to see her ever again. So why take the time to look presentable when there wouldn't be a single soul who'd appreciate such a thing?
Why would a prince want to save a girl like her? Why say anything in reaction when even just a whisper would be too painful for her throat?
She curled into herself more at the thought of it before the apple she held onto loosened itself from her grip as he unfolded to reveal his true form.
The loyal dragon who would protect the princess at all costs.
from discussion for the violet mansion campaign ... if humans want to play god and make a new 'uroboros eternatus' they can fuck around and find out!!!!
pallid and glowing like the moon, a unicorn crosses eternatus' path, regarding the entity with a kind of perplexed air. "i have never seen something like you, even in the secret places, between what is and isnt."
eternatus has seen the birth of time. it has nurtured the flow of space. it has created more than any other entity, even its own creator- such was the nature of the eldest, greatest of the cosmic four. eternatus was the universe itself- not one, but many; infinite- thus, it is true. this moon-touched being has never seen anything like it.
but it has seen many like her.
γ i am the beginning and the end. the key and the gate. you may not have consciously seen me, but you have seen me before. γ
from the darkness around it, the shape of a person forms. tall and golden- and fragmented.
γ for all is within the one, and the one is within all. you have seen yourself, and you have seen the world. you have seen the spaces in-between. perhaps the way to say it is this: you have not seen me in this form. γ
It's touching, how warmly Galar always welcomes him back. Despite his long-admired crown now resting on the head of another, there's always someone waiting at Hulbury's ferry port while he disembarks; a child whose face lights up when they see him, Charizard plush gripped tightly in hand; a group of Trainers waiting to thank him for invigorating their shared passion in battle and letting their paths cross via the Gym Challenge.
Leon always smiles, his eyes squeezed shut to hold back the wetness that threatens to well up, and hands out autographs and League Cards and whatever extra supplies he has on hand. He tells them that he's grateful for their support and hopes he can continue to count on it moving forward into the future.
If he looks too closely the damage left behind by the Second Darkest Day still remains, from the people who give the Dynamax Dens too wide a berth, glancing nervously at them as if they're coiled Ekans waiting to strike, to those with an all-too familiar shadow that flits across their eyes whenever he moves wrong and the scars peek out from under his clothes. There's a lot of pain lurking behind Galar's glitz and glamour, but the region will survive. It always will. For every nightmare suffered, a dozen acts of kindness are shared in the daylight hours, and it's this enduring love that will ensure the sun continues to rise on their streets and shine through whatever storms lurk on the horizon.
He's meant to be here on official business, a quick check-in with the new Champ to make sure everything's running smoothly despite the absence of a permanent Chairman, but as he often does, Leon's let himself wander. The morning hours had been wiled away embraced in the soft, otherworldly light of the Glimwood Tangle, with the wild Alcremie leaving sticky handprints across his boots and the Spritzee perched in neat lines across his shoulders. The early afternoon was easily lost to scaling the sprawling mountains of Stow-On-Side, and the later hours staring into the mirror surface of Giant's Mirror.
It's approaching dusk now, the sky painted with a watercolour masterpiece of blues, pinks and fiery oranges. It's not the thing currently holding Leon's focus, however, for he's suddenly become aware of the fact he's not alone.
His eyes snap to Gilbert's, one hand already reaching up on instinct to remove his cap and rest it against his chest. The soft sadness in those eyes is as recognisable as the barely-concealed shadows in others', and it hits him just as hard.
Had this meeting occurred at a different time, Leon might have been inclined to put on the face of the Champion everyone else already knew and loved. Bold and bright and ever smiling. More an idol than he ever was a man, a real person to get to know.
Instead, Leon's eyes soften into the same unspoken sadness, and only once the eye contact is broken does he find the courage to approach.
β Mister O'Glaucascur. I didn't expect to run into you all the way out here. β
β please- there is no need to be so formal. call me gil- β they both ache from the past. they both deserved better, and that's the worst part of it. leon is too young to have faced such horrors. gilbert is too mortal to have endured the burden of divinity. they should've been able to live their lives as any other young people would. and that was a luxury that they were denied. if he could turn back time ... β i suppose i wasn't expecting to see you here, either- β
β but, it's a welcome surprise. β he means it, truly. leon was a hero to galar. and much like gilbert, his image was carefully crafted so that the public would only ever see what they needed to see. so that the image of a perfect champion, a perfect steward-prince, would never shatter. neither of them had been given the luxury to get close to most people- because the people didn't want to know them. the people wanted idols.
gilbert had vowed to change that. one day, he'd be steward of galar, and he would be able to make it a place where people wouldn't have to feel like they had to hold up images to please others. he would make a galar where no one felt alone or unseen-
β the region has missed you dearly. β surely, leon already knew that. when people would welcome him back, ask for his autograph- the people of galar ... what they missed, in the end, was the illusion. gilbert- no, eternatus- had seen parts of the truth, and perhaps it was because he had seen the truth of who leon was as a person that he decided he rather liked the other man.
β i ... owe you an apology, leon. for what happened before. β it's not his fault, though, and it's not leon's fault. he still wants to apologize, because maybe he could've aimed his anger, instead of lashing out at everyone. hadn't he learned that not all humans were wicked as he grew up among them? β i want to make things right. you were hurt, then- i hurt you. you didn't deserve that. but, i am uncertain of how to remedy it... β
