He awoke from his deep slumber. A feeling of familiarity among the sea of apathy && constant exhaustion turned his attention to the shore of the deep sea that'd become his dwelling. Not someone he knew, not a mortal come to beg him for a blessing upon their life, but a being not unlike himself. They were not godly, but their presence still carried the air of undying, unaging, && strength that mortals did not possess.
Whispers from the god to the creatures of the sea, a question of who the being was passed from where he resided in the deep darkness, to the shore where sea turtles could peek out of the water && back down again, a squid excitedly pulling on one of his many tentacles to urge him to the surface. Something had come to the sea's edge, an unearthly beauty unlike anything his companions had ever had the pleasure of seeing. Four legged, shiny white fur that gleamed in the pale moonlight, a single horn sprouting from their head. Most of the beast's kin were skittish, startling at the smallest of movements, disappearing in the blink of an eye. Lovecraft had heard stories of them from humans, thought to be nothing more than an animal from a storybook about knights && princesses. But he knew of their existence && the truth of it.
Even as a god, Lovecraft was not immune to the pull of such a captivating creature, a rare eagerness rising within him as he moved towards the surface. He would present himself as human, or at least as human as he could manage, as to not scare the unicorn away. Masses of tentacles became arms && legs. Slick, mucus-covered flesh became skin. He could not hide all his features in the guise of a mortal. Dark grey eyes were like that of an octopus && his ears sprouted into three points like a fin, but it was presentable enough to pass as an Ability user.
When he rose from the water, he was nearly nose to snout with the unicorn. Slowly, carefully, he moved his arms to cross atop an outcropping of rocks so he looks up at the unicorn, the rest of his body still enveloped by the sea. He regarded her curiously, eyes wide with mild wonder. In the couple millenia he'd been alive, he'd yet to see a unicorn && already he found he was captivated by how...adorable they were.
❝ Pretty... ❞ He murmured, voice deep, guttural, accented. A single light green tentacle presented the unicorn with a bundle of sea grapes, plucked from the shallows, ❝ Sea grapes...They are salty... ❞
