Sonamy Week 2025, Day 1 - Adventure

Just barely getting this first drawing done before day 1 is over...and guys, I have to be real with you. I am NOT going to be able to finish any more drawings in time for the rest of the week. I knew I wanted to do digital drawings this time, compared to my pencil sketches I did last year, but digital drawings take SO MUCH LONGER to make. I tried to get a head start a few weeks ago when I immediately got to work on this drawing, but I just didn't have enough time per day to get this done in a timely manner. So long story short: I'm still going to make the rest of my Sonamy Week 2025 drawings, but only when I'm able to make them. If I'm lucky, I might get one more drawing done before the week is over. I hope y'all understand. 😓😅

Anywho, day 1 of this year's Sonamy Week is titled "adventure." I looked around and saw many fellow fan artists interpreting that as "Sonic Adventure" the game. I thought of that at one point, but I decided to deviate from that a bit. The first thing that came to mind when I saw "adventure" goes back to my days of online dating (about a year before I eventually met my wife). Almost every profile I'd come across said that they were into "adventuring" (rock climbing, hiking, outdoors stuff, etc.) according to their bio. All these years later, I thought going on one of these "adventures" seemed like a perfect date idea for Sonic and Amy, so here they are spending their day climbing a cliff, almost near the top by the time sunset rolls around.

Ride the Storm Out

Sonamy isn't the only ship I'm a fan of here (I'll eventually get around to a few others as well 😉), so here's my first stab at Taiream. It's not necessarily romantic or anything, but this is how I see a seed being planted to give this ship life. 😊

In case there's too much going on in the drawing, I'll break it down for you. It was a routine flight for Tails as he was giving Cream and Cheese a ride back to Vanilla's house before the three of them get caught in a severe thunderstorm. The Tornado 2 gets struck by lightning and is about to go down, forcing everyone to bail out. Seeing the imminent danger, Cream musters her courage to lead the three of them to safety. Tails, terrified of lightning and perhaps embarrassed by his plane being put out of commission so easily, tries to be brave as Cream pulls him along.

Knuckles Sketch

Yes, I'm still alive and drawing things...🙃😅

I know I've been awfully quiet the last two months. Life has been mentally and emotionally, sometimes physically, taxing on me and my family. On top of that, I had an art block. 😓

Now I've finally found the motivation and drive to get back to pencil sketches again. This time, I made a concerted effort to draw my boy, Knux, my favorite character of the Sonic franchise. Like with Tails, I drew Knuckles a few times before, but this is my first serious attempt to draw him nicely. Hope you like it! 😁

2024 is already drawing to a close, no pun intended. 😜 I don't know exactly what my future holds for me, but I do have something rather exciting to share with you all by the end of the year, so stay tuned! 😉

This is one of my messier drawings and it took forever to finish and get the lines right, but it feels good to keep putting drawings out. 🙂

I'm so slow with drawing. I finish one drawing and then Sega goes overboard with content to make fanart of (Sonic x DC, Dulce Amy, SegaAtlusTGS, etc.). It's impossible to keep up! 🥲

Anywho, this is a quick sketch I put together for Amy's 31st birthday. It didn't turn out exactly as I would've liked, but I thought I'd make a drawing of her wearing a different outfit as well (I recently decided to create a Pinterest account to help me with inspiration). Whether this looks good or not, it helped me out of a creative slump. 😓

Perhaps I could make this a recurring thing, just drawing Amy (and maybe others) showing off her fashion prowess and finding infinite ways of looking cute. 😊

This is probably my first actual serious attempt at drawing Tails properly. I made one attempt eight years ago...and boy have my drawing skills come a LONG way since then...😅

Well, now that I know that I can draw Tails AND Cream relatively well individually, I might dabble in some Taiream art sometime in the future...😶🥰🤯

I figured I was going to have them kiss at some point. I came close a couple of times during this week, so I might as well seal the deal. Eat up, fellow SonAmy fans! ☺️💙🩷

And everyone, that wraps it up for me for this year's SonAmy Week! This was my very first time taking part in something like this, and it has been an absolute honor sharing and partaking in the love given towards these two hedgehogs, especially alongside artists who are miles beyond my own abilities. Maybe next year I'll have the time and confidence to put out digital color drawings and not just draw in sketchy pencil...😅

Regardless, I want to say thank you to everyone who liked/loved/favorited my drawings and have become new followers. I'm not the most consistent in terms of talent or even finding time to draw, but as long as I make you guys smile, that's all the motivation I need to keep going. ☺️🤟🫶

Now that this week is over and my skills have been pushed to their limits (maybe even beyond), I'll be taking a little break before I get back to what I was doing before this SonAmy Week snuck up on me. 🤣

SonAmy Week 2024, Day 6 - Red Thread of Fate

Sorry for posting this (a lot) later than usual. Today was a busy day for me and the family so I didn't have as much time during the day to get to drawing. 😓

As fun as it was drawing yesterday's prompt, part of me felt like I was a bit too overambitious, getting carried away with all the background details...😵‍💫

Thankfully, today's prompt was a lot more straightforward and to the point. The basic idea of the "red thread of fate" is that two lovers who are destined to be together in the end have red thread tied around their fingers when they're born, the thread eventually pulling the two closer and closer together until they finally meet and fall in love. Such a cute concept and I really liked how this turned out, especially with bringing back Sonic and Amy's date outfits from my "Slowing Down" fanfic comic. 😊💙🩷

SonAmy Week 2024, Day 5 - Fantasy

Bet you weren't expecting a dramatic SonAmy x Owl House crossover for Day 5, were you? 😉

When "Fantasy" became the prompt to draw, I had a hard time deciding which route to take. I didn't want to just draw something that was generic. It had to be a specific reference to a movie or show. I bounced around from Robin Hood to The Swan Princess to The Familiar of Zero (some obscure anime you probably never heard of) before finally settling with The Owl House. 😊

To prepare for this drawing, I took a personality test each for Sonic and Amy to see which coven they would join if they existed in the Boiling Isles. For Sonic, he got the Illusion coven, so I drew him making clones of himself to fight (he moves so fast that it looks like he can already create the illusion of being in multiple places at once, so I thought the Illusion coven was a perfect fit for him 💙). For Amy, she got the Construction coven, so I drew her erecting walls to protect her and Sonic from Belos and the coven scouts, also wielding a Piko Piko Hammer she made from scratch (she's always been so strong and tough, so the Construction coven really works for her, too. 🩷)

This has got to be the busiest drawing I've made so far this week. I apologize if you can't quite see everything very well (hence why I explained it in detail here), my shading skills aren't the best with a pencil. Regardless, this was a great challenge for me and I had a TON of fun drawing this. Hope you like it! 😁
