Kai, I visited the old house. I was looking for something but I found these. I thought you might like to see them. I hope you have been well. You and Summer both. Till we meet again.
I’m sorry.

Kai, if you were in the hunger games and you could pick a partner in the arena, who would you pick and why?
“@aestas-solis - because I think she’s a competent fighter and… just maybe… worthy of my trust.”
“Bold statement from someone as wary as you.”
“I have a feeling about you.”
She folds her arms. “Yeah? That’s funny.”
“Is it?” He crosses his arms as well, unconsciously, not meaning to mirror her. “You’re pretty strange, yourself.”
She tips her head a bit. She doesn’t look very enthralled. “I bet you’d think that. Too bad I’m as bland and boring as you can get. Me with you in the Hunger Games? Instantly killed.”
He laughs softly and shakes his head.
Her head is lifted toward him but she’s not quite looking at him, her gaze falling past his shoulder. Her lips purse into a tight line, then relax, then purse, like she’s thinking about saying something but decides against it.
“... Like anything else besides ice cream?”

She's sitting at one of the tables near the beach by the post office, pinching and rolling a loose thread from the cuff of her shirt between the tips of her fingers, idly staring at the table's edge. Vacant and glazed, it's clear she's lost in thought, lips carving silent words through subtle, lazy movements as if she's quietly reciting a long lost assignment from high school that still lingers in the shadows of her mind.
He’s surprised to see a Summer here, and softly walks up to her.
“Something I can help you with?”
She stops fingering the thread, but her eyes don’t pull away from the table’s edge. Though she carefully blinks and after a long moment she rolls her head up to meet his gaze, hers half-lidded in a tired, apathetic glower.
“Wanna buy me some ice cream?”
“All right.” The question is so out of nowhere that he agrees before he realizes what he’s said, but he makes good on his word, walking her to the little ice cream stand. “Wanna tell me your story in exchange?”
A quiet rush of air leaves her lips. It’s enough to pass as a laugh, maybe.
“You think a little ice cream is gonna make me spill? I’ve got a lot of shit, so get ready to buy a lot of ice cream if that’s how you work.”
She narrows her eyes a bit.
“I like mint chocolate chip. Before you ask.”

Beach looks cool. What's there to eat around here?
He rubs his head again. “There’s a place with ice cream and sandwiches…. and… quite a few leftover sweets - my inbox is always full of very thoughtful things, so much that I can’t ever finish it all.” He scoots a plate of cookies towards her, his eyes never leaving her.
She eyes the plate, not looking particularly impressed before raising her eyes to his. She seems to have a look of mild annoyance plastered permanently onto her face.
“Ice cream sounds nice.”
Hey.
“……..Hey.”
“What’s up?”
Mordecai quirks a brow. “Do… do I know you?”
Obviously she’s a Summer, but… she seems different.
All she offers is a shrug.
“Cool post office.”
Hey.
“……..Hey.”
“What’s up?”
