[ID: A mannequin dressed in an oversized knit top, striped with saturated colors, mainly magenta and light blue, but some stripes of orange, green and purple. On top of this is a hood that has a light blue hem and stripes that intersperse the gradient of stripes that start at red and end at yellow. Below the hood is a black and grey knit eye that's the size of the mannequin's head, and covering the lower edge of the eye is a veil that covers the rest of the face and to below the shoulders, that has a bright orange trim, another red-yellow gradient of stripes interspersed with green in a trapezoid shape from the middle and magenta interspersed with blue-purple gradient stripes on either side, and two magenta tassels from the eye down to the middle of the chest. Photo is taken outside with trees in the background. End ID.]
Past a certain point, you stop being able to go home. At this point, when you have got this far from where you were from, the thread snaps. The narrative breaks. And you are forced, pastless, motherless, selfless, to invent yourself anew.

LET YOUR DAD DIE ENERGY DRINK: ALL THE ENERGY OF NOT TRYING TO STAND BETWEEN YOUR FATHER AND THE GRAVE
STOP TRYING TO GET HIM ON ONE OF THOSE MINDFULNESS APPS
IF HE WANTED TO TAKE YOUR SUGGESTIONS HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN THEM ALREADY

'I'll love you, dear, I'll love you Till China and Africa meet, And the river jumps over the mountain And the salmon sing in the street,
'I'll love you till the ocean Is folded and hung up to dry And the seven stars go squawking Like geese about the sky.

"The life of my heart is crimson.”
[Writing about a family member's recent death:]
"My brother went down/ to the river and put dirt on.”
"Peace be a song, silver pool of sadness”
"Away went a dull winter wind that rocked harshly, and bent you said, 'Father, father'.”
[Writing about a terminal illness:]
"I am feeling burdened and I taste milk…… I mumble, ‘Please, please run away.’ But it lives where I live.”
"The owls of midnight hoot like me shutting the door to nothing.”
[Writing about life as a movie:]
"The choir enters, and the director screams 'Sing with more terror!!!'”
"I have provisions. Binary muffins. It's an in/out/in/out kind of universe. We cannot help you, this is a universe factory. A sound of rolling symbols. Disappearing rocks, screams of lizards. Sanity must prevail. Save vs. Do Not."
"I, the star god, take bones from the underworlds of past times to create mankind.”

have you ever stood on a frozen lake, California? the sun above you, the snow & stalled sea—a field of mirror
all demanding to be the sun, everything around you is light & it’s gorgeous & if you stay too long it will kill you.
it’s so sad, you know? you’re the only warm thing for miles the only thing that can’t shine.
