It's been a while since I made a post about dark mode, so here we go:

[Video description: a female voice is narrating a tutorial for AO3. As she lists the actions, there is a screen capture of her following her own instructions.

"If you want dark mode in AO3, scroll down all the way to the bottom and in the red border, under Customize, tap on Choose Skin and then tap on Reversi."

She follows these instructions and the website loads a new page that is in dark mode. In the upper right corner of the page, you can see the words Reversi skin by AO3.

"This will set you into dark mode for this session, which means if you leave the website and come back you won't be in dark mode anymore. To make it permanent, scroll all the way down again and tap on Use."

She scrolls to the bottom of the page this time, but stops short of the page footer. She zooms her camera in on a button labelled Use. End description.]
