Sirius, without breaking the kiss, opened his eyes and looked at Lupin, who was already watching him.

Remus shifted his gaze to Mary, cupped her face in his hands, and at the exact moment the drums and electric guitar launched into their final instrumental solo — he kissed her.

But as they were kissing, Lupin opened his eyes and locked gazes with Sirius.

Yes, Remus was kissing Mary — but he was looking at him.

It felt like lightning struck his heart.

Deep down, he'd always known it. He'd known since the first time he'd seen him in this same Great Hall where they were now dancing.

Sirius didn't just like Remus — he wanted him. More than anything right now, he wanted to be in Mary's place — tracing the scars on Remus's face, feeling his mouth on his own.

And that was pure jealousy he was feeling in his chest.
