jumping on the "head empty only wahhchan" train; I'm still so fixated on the "what the hell did I do to you?" line. this is the moment that Katsuki, who is a problem solver to his core, realizes that Izuku's self worth issues aren't something that can be fixed with a few months of atonement and support. this is the moment it TRULY hits him what a lifetime of bullying Izuku did to his childhood friend's self esteem. that Izuku can't find it in himself to express grief over losing his greatest dream. and Katsuki cries harder because in that exact moment he realizes all his atonement so far wasn't good enough, he lost his best avenue (competing with Izuku to support his hero dream) to continue that necessary healing work. the layers of grief are insaaaannneeeee

One of my favourite bits in fma is how during the final arc they bring up why attempting human stransmutation is forbidden, as the readers we've seen what happens when an attempt fails with Ed and Al, so of course the logical explanation is that "it's too dangerous to attempt", or even "it goes against the natural way the world works, it's monstruous in nature and impossible".

But then Arakawa in her infinite wisdom as a writer goes, lol no, the goverment has been making flesh monsters with human transmutations in secret for years, they forbid it so that nobody can't even come close to attempting to create a personal army that cannot feel pain

no really i think bakugo is a "good" kid in the sense he gets good grades, he does his chores no questions asked, goes to bed at 8pm, has proper hygiene, very independent and safe, breaks no rules but hes also just an asshole. and i think it kinda goes into him thinking hes better than others. like him thinking "why are you guys fucking slobs, why do you guys smell like SHIT, why do you eat garbage, you guys are losers"

yeah that's what happens in the story and what fuels his irritation with Izuku in particular, his toddler brain can't compute how someone can struggle so much (and yet be so kind and supportive)
