The Fun of Separation

For many years I have continuously written and created things for one expansive and ongoing universe: rarely would there be times I could write about different things, mundane things, "lame" things, pointless things. I am not literally calling them those things, but more so in the context of that expansive universe. Who would care about a man and his family? And the things they do to get along? I never thought I'd be worrying about such things, I was always writing my next big thing! But when I became an adult, things started to change for me for once. I was getting exhausted of writing for the same thing, over and over. For the first time in 8 years! My attention began slowly shifting to something new: a small game called Toontown. This was a turning point in my life for many reasons, but very importantly one for my writing priorities. I was writing for that family man, and his adventures, the story leading up to his love, his joy, his peace. Things were so jarring and different, it felt so much more personal now: like I was meeting someone who always knew me but I didn't know them: a kind of self-discovery? My interest in the "mundane" grew, I like thinking about minor character details a lot now, I like focusing on very small differences in characterization, I like seeing all the ways a character can communicate without even speaking....Picking up on these things feels so rewarding, and writing these things feels so fun, I want to write! I want to love! I want YOU to read! And I want you to love... When I eventually make something, I hope someone who reads it has fun reading it, analyzing any morsel of character they can to construct a clearer picture in their head. I want you to read, I want you to love.
