âYouâre a kid.â be began dryly, âyouâre good, but youâre still a kid.â
He looked down at Truce, but eventually he crouched down to be on eye level. Maybe it was because of the fact that this kid reminded him so much of himself or maybe it was a natural feeling to look after those younger than himself, but but he was worried.
âNow tell me how you ended up in this part of town, in this parlor at this time of night.â
Truce raised his eyebrows, and for a moment just stared back at Harper wordlessly, slipping his hands into his pockets in the meantime.
Then he laughed.
âAre you going to ask where my parents are next? So many people ask that, maybe I should just glue a sign to my head that says, Parents are dead, donât ask.â He shrugged his shoulders, then crossed his arms. âItâs true Iâm a kid, but your concern is wasted. What is it that youâre worried about? My safety? Youâd put that energy to better use by polishing your poker skills to beat me next time. Heh...â
viridianmaxwell:
Ah. oh. More options, okay. No that wasnât really clicking⊠it was as if sheâd never been in this situation before or maybe⊠it was one sheâd been in all to often and had tried very hard to forget. Viridian felt as though she were being manipulated, though to what extent she could not fathom. You couldnât squeeze blood from a stone and now that her wallet was gone, she really had nothing to lose now did she? âUm!! Yeah okay, that one. The last thing. If you donât mind⊠I⊠need a break. Sorry.â
There was really no reason to apologize. Yet she was compelled. There was just something overwhelming about such generosity being delivered so condescendingly from a boy much younger than she was. HowâŠ. how did a child get to be this evil? She wondered. And then immediately scolded herself. Obviously he wasnât evil! If anything he was being kind and she was just being⊠her usual self, useless at handling stressful situations.
Viridian bent down and finished zipping her suit case, hoisting it back up by the handle so she could roll it along. âAs long as youâre sure youâre okay with it.â She added quickly, glancing over to the front desk and then back at Truce as though sure he might change his mind.
He stared at her as she considered the offer and got her things together, in a way that suggested patience, but might have also been just fixed enough that it could have made her uncomfortable, like some sort of zoo animal that wouldnât take its eyes off of her for whatever reason. Probably not the nicest effect to consciously impart on her, as she already seemed noticeably uneasy...but he couldnât help the urge to mess with people who he could easily mess with.
âOf course,â he replied simply, finally lifting his gaze to stride over to the front desk and request a change of reservations. He returned when heâd finished, holding out a room key to her; the other room key, he stashed away in his jacket.
âLetâs get you in there so you can lie down or whatever you need, shall we?â (Fingers crossed on whether she would actually be able to relax with Truce bullying her like this.) âItâs room 222. Hopefully the repetition will make it easy to remember,â he remarked with a polite smile.
Gripping his own luggage and starting in the direction of the rooms, he moved a few feet forward and then stopped and turned back around to speak to her again.
âThereâs no need to be so nervous. Though I guess itâs not uncommon for me to naturally unnerve people...but you really have nothing to worry about.â
The grin on his face and the way heâd said that didnât exactly help, however.
spears-specials:
Damnit. It looked like this kid was more cleverer than he looked. He wanted to know more about the SPW FoundationâŠhe had to let Truce know as little as possible about it. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan.
âOh, itâs rather boring really. All we do is jot down every stand we find and then their appearance, stats and so on. Then we make sure to kinda leave them alone for a while. If they need assistance they can just call up with a number. Weâre kindaâŠforced to help anyone who calls as long as itâs an emergency.â Lied Takuma.
âŠSo it wasnât a 100% lie, but he did lie about half of it. It was a specialized monitoring system, created to monitor stand users so they wouldnât cause trouble ever since DIO died. It helped out a lot since then. SadlyâŠnot everyone liked the idea of being supervised.
âSo you assist Stand users. And? What does the SPW Foundation have to gain from that? Where does it get its funding?â He folded his arms, the casualness of his posture contrasting with the sharp skepticism in his eyes.
No organization could survive like that unless those who used its services paid for it, or unless it received donations, the chances of that being slim if it were an organization involved solely with Stand users. Alternatively, it had to have a cover business, whose profits were spent on the less public Stand-related operations.
In short, unless Takuma presented some other believable information to make it make sense, this was definitely a lie. Takuma was likely trying to hide the purpose of the organization, which meant that its true purpose was inconvenient to Truce somehow...
@cold-cold-ethyl
Just another day with nothing going on and nothing to do...except maybe grab a snack somewhere, since he was getting hungry, but it wasnât quite lunch time yet.
So he slipped into the nearest convenience store he saw -- but it wasnât long before something, or rather, someone in there caught his attention. Stopping first to pick up a bag of gummies before strolling over to approach the familiar face, he looked up at her with his usual smug grin.
Now that he thought about it, she had mentioned, last time, that sheâd been taking a walk during a break from her job at a store, and, in fact, this store really wasnât far from the place theyâd first met. That considered, it was still a funny coincidence.
âHi again, miss. Still been wandering around in shady alleyways in your spare time? Seen any drug dealers in your backstreet adventures yet?â
spears-specials:
Takuma looked over at Truce, who had denied Agent 4 the right to ruffle the kids hair. Dishonored, he walked off, possible to cry after being shut down by a kid. Takuma looked up, taking his cap off to look a the symbolâŠhuh, very odd heâd be used for scouting work whilst also having his companyâs logo on him. Dumb.
âThis? Yeah, Iâm employed by the SPW Foundation to search for stand users to document them. Itâs pretty cool witnessing different kinds of stands and jotting them down in my log book.â He stated, not realizing he could use this info for his own needs.
âSoâŠshow me your stand. I know you must have a super cool one!â
Taking little to no notice of Agent 4âČs reaction, Truce only spared him a brief glance as he walked off, and then turned back to Takuma as if heâd forgotten about Agent 4 completely.
âHm...â That definitely caught Truceâs interest. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully for a moment, before looking back up at Takuma to respond.
â...No. What does the SPW Foundation use this information for, anyway?â
Allowing himself to be documented by an organization collecting data about Stand users was too risky. Even if the organization itself meant no harm by collecting this data, it could be stolen by an outside party, and then used maliciously... ...He had to let Takuma know as little as possible about Run and Go.
dio-saurs:
~ â ~ Diego tilted his head, both pleased and intrigued by his answer. Though the bit about his parents working with him made sense, the rest was nearly unbelievable. It was hard to picture such an young child committing murder, even if owning a stand surely played a big role in it. Despite this, he found it weird someone would consider bringing their newborn son to work, especially if said work involved killing people.
âTen years? Thatâs quite a lot,â the blond admitted, âI can only image your toys were knives and guns, rather than teddy bears and doll. Itâs not a wonder you managed to do a good job there.â
âOn this note, I wonder, how much would something like that cost? It was quick and ridiculously easy, so I suppose one could agree on a fair price.â Abandoning the sandwich, he rested his elbow on the table and his chin on his palm.
As much as Truceâs story had triggered hie curiosity, he wanted to make sure their affairs would have been fruitful before digging into his past. Business came before pleasure, after all.
âBesides, I like you, really, but this doesnât mean Iâll go easy on you. Scams are not something I likeâŠalthough I trust you already knew better than trying that with me.â His smile was cold, unnatural. It wasnât supposed to be friendly, so the jockey didnât even try to pretend; that was the serious part of their conversation.
âI guess so,â he replied, recalling all of his belongings in contemplation of the statement. Briefly, he wondered if it might not have been ânormalâ for a kid his age to sleep with a pistol under their pillow...?
Truce snickered. âThis one was cheap enough; the target wasnât even a Stand user. He was a member of a local gang, but not a very big-time one. Not worth too much.â
Truce returned Dioâs smile with one of his own; one of confidence, perhaps. âThat wonât be something youâll have to worry about. Having a credible reputation as a hitman is pretty important to me. After all,â he continued to explain, in order to further reassure Dio that no scams would be taking place here, âa kid my age would already have incredibly low credibility in this line of work. Seeing as I rely partially on my reputation to get hired in the first place, itâs also in my best interest to keep my work honest and straightforward.â
He paused to take a small bite out of his sandwich. âOf course, I hope the same goes for you, mister Dio... Even if youâre a Stand user yourself, I wonât sit by if you donât hold up your end of the deal, either. It happens all too often, that people think they can get away with shirking their payment just because Iâm a kid... They never think that for long,â he finished, staring straight into Dioâs eyes as he ate.
wicked-suits:
âI like you Truce.â Harper exclaimed, now leaning back in his chair.
The man watched Truceâs cards intently as his own were shown. A few men gasped, some swore but all were shocked at the revelation, the kid had won. Harper leaned on the table, his chin resting on his knuckles.
âWell, wellâŠThis is a deviation from what usually happens for me.â He stepped up from his chair and looked down at Truce, for a moment it seemed Harper was going to lash out, but he simply held out his hand towards the boy, âCongratulations, I have a proposal for you, but iâd rather discuss it away from the small fry.â
How lucky! Not that Truce ever had any pride to lose, as it wouldâve only been natural for a seemingly overconfident child to face defeat here...but he had to admit it was pretty hilarious how shocked each new set of small fry became when he won against them.
Harper didnât seem as disgruntled as Truce mightâve expected, but that didnât subtract from Truceâs amused feeling of superiority. Still, his next movements were suspicious, and as Truce took the manâs hand and started to move away from the table as per Harperâs request, he kept himself fully alert, ready to bring out his Stand at any second.
âI donât imagine you get to play poker with kids much to begin with, so Iâd wager it was a deviation to start with,â Truce remarked, somewhat sarcastically. âSo? What is this proposal?â
cold-cold-ethyl:
Ethyl could still feel the kidâs eyes on her, even while she glanced into the distance. She could also sense the brief tension between them. After all, considering what sheâd walked in onâshe wasnât completely sure if this kid had meant her harm at all. If he did, sheâd be ready to spring into action with her Stand at the ready.
Finally, he spoke. And when he did, a sense of relaxation overtook her. It didnât seem like he meant to attackâjudging from his dismissive tone, anyhow. Ethyl stepped forward and turned, facing the direction from where sheâd come.
âIt was either to come down here or to go for a walk along the sidewalksâwhere one risks interaction with other people,â she said. âIn any case, I have zero interest in what just happened here.â
Well, that might have been a slight lie. She was still a little curious as to exactly what had happened, but she didnât feel like sticking around. And prodding the kid was probably a terrible idea. She could tell from his tone that he probably wasnât going to tell her anything more anyway, even if sheâd asked.
Ethyl waved her hand. âEnjoy your trading cards.â
âPft.â He snorted slightly at her statement about risking interaction, for whatever reason that he found it comical somehow.
And he found her following statement rather believable; either she was quite skilled at acting, or she was just as nonchalant as she seemed, which Truce found a bit intriguing.
Either way, he watched her walk off before departing to continue his own affairs. Perhaps he would remember her face...
aurumshades:
Charles held on as tight as he could, even though he was confused about what was going to happen. Initially.
He saw it, a strange, black tendril shooting out from near the other kid. Just what the hell was that? The boy almost let go from fear, but decided against it. He trusted Truce enough, he supposed. Or maybe it was already too late to think this over. Probably a mix of both, to be quite honest.
Instead, he just squeezed his eyes shut and kept his grasp strong. Truceâs words had instilled a bit of fear into him. He didnât want to got to the hospital⊠Again. The speed of this makeshift âescapeâ was enough to get Charlesâs adrenaline pumping. A good sign of the fact that he was still conscious and very much alive, thankfully.
His landing, however, was a little less graceful then his new friendâs. He bumped his knees a bit, but the overflowing adrenaline rush didnât let that register, instantly at least. That was a thrill alright⊠But just what were those black, things?
Charles pushed himself up, slowly and a bit shakily. Wasnât every day that you had an experience like this. He walked over to Truce, confused and a bit concerned. âW-what was that black thing?â He didnât even pay attention to the question, finding out just what the heck that was was more important.
He turned around to face Charles, and before even bothering to answer his question, Truce snickered as he looked the other kid up and down.
âSo you didnât get a concussion. Or skin your limbs,â he remarked, with a slightly amused grin. âYou didnât even scream. Heheheh...â
Finally, he moved on to Charlesâs inquiry, and, though his posture was loose and casual, he looked at Charles with a stern expression.
âLet me guess... You donât know what a Stand is? You also have something you can call out at any time, but that no one else can see, yes? That was mine: Run and Go.â
Truce was still on guard and ready to pull out his Stand again at once, despite that Charles had been unnerved even by a simple shady alleyway, which suggested that he would be of no threat whatsoever to Truce; his personality and demeanor supported the idea as well, but after all...you could never be too cautious.
âOr, if not that, then some other special power. Some Stands are embedded within objects, after all. Well?â He looked at Charles expectantly, obviously prompting him to demonstrate his own.
spears-specials:
âThatâs different though.â Takuma said, crossing his arms as he looked down at Truce. âAgent 5 only listens to me, but that doesnât mean he agrees with everything I do. He certainly doesnât like you.â
It was at this point that Agent 4 walked over to Truce, ruffling up his hair as he giggled like a schoolboy. it was clear that he liked the young prankster.
4: Donât worry kiddo, not m4ny people like me either! We c4n become the gre4test duo the world h4s ever seen! M4king up pr4nks whenever we see fit!
Truce merely laughed at his words. âEvidently, yes.â
But upon the sudden and entirely uninvited hair ruffling, he gently pushed at Agent 4âČs hand with the back of his own. âHey, hey...hands off, mister 4,â he said, though he didnât look particularly upset -- only a select few were allowed to do that, and Agent 4 was not one of them. At this point in time, at least.
âSure,â he snickered. âItâll definitely be easier for you, so long as there arenât any other Stand users in the vicinity. Excellent for stealth and undercover pranking.â The prospect was pleasing; it made him want to rub his hands in excitement.
âBy the way, mister Takuma... Iâve been curious about your cap. What is that logo? Is that where youâre employed?â
small profile update (new / edited content pasted below):
+ His parents were hitmen, and Truce had been helping them with their hit jobs since he was around 2 years old, give or take (*remember that baby stand user in part 3? thatâs the general idea). Around 6 years ago, he mostly stopped working with his parents and began doing jobs by himself.
+ His parents are dead. How they died is not yet known. For the record, they were quite eccentric while they were alive.
dio-saurs:
~ â ~ âOh, I know, I know way too well,â Diego agreed, crossing his arms over the table. Getting rid of someone was always a risky operation, and not everyone knew how sneak away from the consequences. The truth was that killing was not the hard part â even a drunk man could mess up badly enough to claim someoneâs life â what required talent was surviving the aftermath.
âBut youâll have to admit, a fake accident is still better than a blatant murder. If anything, when the victim seems to have been hit by car, or chocked on something, there is a small chance someone might believe it. On the other hand, a man whose throat as been cut will immediately alert everyone.â
âAs for what you suggested, I want you to understand Iâm not clueless: the guy I want dead has other enemies, so I should be safe this time. However, under other circumstances, I would have been interested in plotting something against a third party⊠just to make things a tiny bit more confusing for whoever will investigate.â
He paused, in order to take a bite out of his sandwich, that was starting to get cold. It would have been unpleasant to eat later on, so he tried to force himself to taste him now; wasting money on food wasnât something that met his tastes.
In the mean time, the blond reflected on Truceâs words. The child surely offered a big variety of services, which was admirable considering his young age. This only made him wonder what was his story: a normal kid could hardly end up like that.
âHow long have you been doing this?â he eventually asked, deciding to indulge with his curiosity. Knowing his future partner more could only be good for his future affairs, so it was worth the risk of annoying him a little.
âFair enough. Regardless, itâs still your decision, when all is said and done. My job only involves carrying out your instructions.â Of course, Dio had a good point. Perhaps what approach to take would best vary by case, rather than attempting a one-size-fits-all take. As a hitman, Truce should have known better, himself; it seemed as if there was still much more for him to learn...and perhaps he could glean a thing or two from his new âfriend.â
In any case, it did seem that Dio was entirely well-versed enough in this sort of thing that Truce neednât give advice; the man knew what he was doing.
For a moment Truce didnât answer the question, instead pausing to lie down on the table and cradle his glass of juice as he sipped it thoughtfully and formed his thoughts into words. Then he began to explain.
âFrankly... So far back that I donât even remember. My parents told me Iâd been helping them on their hit jobs since I was a baby; as in, I was making heads fly before I could even walk. Apparently, thatâs not ânormal.â Heh! But ânormalâ doesnât exist in the world of Stands anyway, does it?â he said, with a bit of a snarky smirk.
âBut to give you a straight answer, that would make it around ten years, give or take. During many of those years, I worked alongside my parents; I only started working mostly independently around six years ago. Is that a sufficient answer?â He stopped to sip more juice.
UM AMAZING.
MY OCS HAVE A TREND GOING WITH THEM APPARENTLY ))
