Wish there were sweaters but like, for feet
My cruddy photos from the Lord Mayor’s Celebrations and Lord Mayor’s Procession.
The Look, Martin Swan
Popped into St Margaret’s for the 44th Art in Norwich exhibition as I was too early for most Lord Mayor’s Celebration events. Mixed bag as ever. I’m starting to recognise artists in the city.
What: Jam session
When: Sunday 26th of June
Where: Pop-up at 79, Unthank Road
I sang. That was new. I was behind a microphne with a handul of ladies from the audience.
This wasn’t the sort of event I would chose to go to. But I had company and I had fun. This seemed to be a new event they were trying to organise and there was a positive vibe. Ignoring the part when a woman started shouting at the announcer about Bob Marley & licensing & racial politics.
I laughed.
When Marnie was there
What: Late night shopping & film
When: While the city flooded Thursday 23rd of June
Where: Everywhere & Cinema City
We had talked abouth the Studio Ghibli Forever showing the day before and neither of us had seen Marnie so agreed to go. It was a 8pm showing and she finished work at 4pm so we made the most of the Thursday late opening times.
We had already caught up on the events of the past month so did a bit of a year in review. I think 2016 is going brilliantly (thanks need to fill this blog).
She bought shoes and I bought a cute umbrella. I am very enthused about it. But I am enthusiastic about everything this week (thanks medication).
The film was beautiful. As was standard for the studio each frame was a painting. The animated food made us hungry and the end of the story made me cry.
The book was set on the Norfolk coast but the film was in Japan. Even so I think I recognised elements of the scenery. Plus I think I spotted Oystercatchers.
[insert photo of us later]
What: Cheeky Nandos
When: Wednesday 22nd of June
Surprised we managed to get together so soon. Three out of four isn’t bad. It was a quick one. Updates on lives and loves. We do need it. One of our number is still plugged in to the village gossip. So-and-so is married and thingy is loosing his hair. I don’t know what they say about me. Nothing I expect. I left the village.
Deer in my back garden.

PMVPodcast #8
What: Live music podcast recording
When: Thursday 16th of June
Where: Cactus Cafe, Magdalen Street
It was good last time. So lets do it again! The peanut oatmeal cookies still nice. The turn out was much better this time. The atmosphere was cosy and I sat with my lemonade and newspaper through the first couple of acts. Al Southgate made a delightful soundtrack to a quaint evening.
Things did get a bit weird near the end. I had arrived at 8:15 and left the building past midnight. There was a loud breakup and some high people. Just added to the surreal feeling I had. Walking round Norwich at 3am with some strangers and fog.
Some of my favourite stories to read are when nothing really happens. Nothing really happened last night. But it was all very interesting.
Wholesome fun on the pier and beach front. £2.40 for a 30 second haunted house? Yes! Because it was dumb and we laughed the whole way through. Glow in the dark Michael Myers and black wool dangling from the ceiling.
Those special bad donuts you only get at the seaside and fairs.

Great Yaremouth in the rain. We got lost and ended up on the wrong side of the river to the beach. We went to the industrial side.
Mancroft in Details
What: Talk about possible chapel under he aisles.
When:Tuesday the 14th June
Where: St Peter Mancroft, Norwich
Turns out I am the most boring person I know. I counted 60 people sitting in the pews for this hour long talk and Q&A. Of the half dozen people without grey hair I think I was the only one not studying medieval history.
I enjoyed what I understood of it. 9th of August there will be a talk on the gold leaf work. Sounds interesting.

KlingKlang presents Not Waving
What: Techno, EBM, No Wave
When: Friday 10th of June
Where: The Loft
I love this kind of music. I don’t know if it is good but I listen to it often. I arrived 25 minutes after doors opened. I was the first to arrive. The loft us a small venue but there can’t have been more the 35 people there when I left at 1am.
So I settled down with an alcopop and fully charged phone. I re-read a lesbian romance manga (It’s a gay bar) then some Kamen Rider but that got too real.
It did fill up after a while and everyone seemed to have a nice time. Outline gave it a good write up. I really liked the music but I wish I had some company.
Spoons!
When: Wednesday 8th of June
Caught up with a couple of friends from school. We are slowly becoming adults. Then we went to see the Jungle Book.
