How many wars? How many famines? How many storms, plagues, and heartbreaks did each of them survive… just so you are here today?

By the time you go 10 generations back, that’s 1,024 lives lived in a single generation. And if you sum all the generations between you and them, it’s thousands of people — each a link in a chain that somehow never broke.

Every single one of them had to survive long enough to bring the next link into being. They lived through wars, famines, revolutions, pandemics, and the silent, grinding struggles that history never writes down.

You are the living proof of thousands of victories over death — an improbable result of unbroken endurance.

You are the answer to centuries of people choosing, fighting, fleeing, staying, and loving.

So, thank God for museums, where we can visit to catch a glimpse of the quintessential past, no matter what it presents. It's an attempt, somehow, for the living to resuscitate the dead.
