When I listen to Ocasio-Cortez, I think about something my dad said to me a few years back when Bernie Sanders was starting to get attention–
you can’t just think about making sure everyone in the country has equal sized pieces of the pie, you need to also think about where the pie came from that’s being divided up
United States wealth is derived from the exploitation of the Global South. We can’t just address income inequality within our borders and assume that’s radical action. No matter how evenly we divide it, we’re still divvying up stolen land & capital and the fruits of forced labor.
UGH
I’m in love
Shout out to trans & nb people whose birth names are unique but their chosen names aren’t
Shout out to trans & nb people whose birth names and and chosen names aren’t similar
Shout out to trans & nb people who love their birth names but don’t feel comfortable using them
Shout out to trans & nb people who still aren’t used to their chosen names
You are all so valid! It’s okay to feel bit weird about your chosen name. It’s okay to feel sad about not being able to use your birth name due to it being unique/pretty etc. It’s okay to feel weird about seeing lot of people with the same name as your chosen one and feeling weird about it because your birth name is unique. It’s okay to not have similar birth and chosen name. It’s okay to sometimes accidentally use your birth name because you aren’t used to your chosen name. It’s okay to be you.

Mako: So, I’m going to grab a healthy breakfast.
Cass: Are those gummy bears wrapped in a fruit roll-up?
Mako: Breakfast burrito, but yeah.
Cass: I pity your dentist.
Mako: Joke’s on you. I don’t have a dentist.
Mako, to the Makos: I see the road you guys are heading down. The lying, the stealing, all of it. And as somebody who's been down that road, let me tell you... you've got real talent.
…signet… is that friend where you know her religious views within fifteen minutes of meeting her, she always uses her faith in framing her own opinions and arguments, and she’s not preachy but you’re always very aware of her religion and how it shapes everything about her perspective on life. tender is that friend where six months after you meet her when you’re hanging out slightly drunk outside at a party vaping she tells you that she’s religious and everything she’s said just kinda falls into place as you suddenly realize that everything you’ve already known about her makes perfect sense within the context of that faith.
lol me being vulnerable lead to a fight cool cool cool cool
I would gladly pay more in taxes if every child in the public school system was guaranteed a healthy lunch.
u ever express ur feelings and immediate feel dumb and gross but also u know vulnerability is necessary to a loving and honest life and ur trying not to self destruct
my partner is so supportive of me looking at grad schools and discussing places with me while also making her needs known and it's just really nice when i get excited about a university and she's like yeah! we could make a life in that city! it's just like,,,, so nice
