TODAYS THE DAY SALAD BOY
Workplace power struggle
English added by me :)
Ok im not crazy well versed in the revival stuff, so if somebody could help me with this thatd be great:
Is there any official source that says Wembley!Greaseball is a lesbian?
I ask because there's a new wave of Rustball shippers that ship this version, and since I intend to do Rustball Week again, I'm inclined to include them.
But if she's a canonical lesbian and people are erasing that by shipping her with Rusty, I'm not going to allow it.
I don't think any of the characters in Starlight Express have 'official' sexualities. Wouldn't it be fun if they put it in the programme? Name: Greaseball Pronouns: she/her Sexuality: Lesbian (strong preference for coaches over trucks) Hobbies: racing, weights, cheating (in both romantic and racing contexts) Catchphrases: "Shut it, Dinah!", "I'm pumping iron!"
Going by what we see on the stage, Greaseball has a girlfriend, and she flirts with Pearl. We never see her express attraction to any of the male characters.
Others can correct me if I'm wrong, but I do think that Greaseball's flirting with audience members is with female presenting people only? That could be wrong but I feel like that's what I've seen.)
Dinah's line at the beginning of Pumping Iron - 'Back off girls, she's mine!' - strongly implies that it's only girls she sees as a threat.
I checked this interview with Al Knott, because I couldn't remember if she'd used the word 'lesbian' to describe Greaseball, but she didn't - she used queer.
So, while it's not 'official' I think it is generally accepted that Wembley Greaseball is a lesbian.
You're right on the audience flirting. When I was there I was front row and made friends with the lesbian couple next to me and can confirm that Dinah and Greaseball focused their audience interaction almost entirely on the three of us, I think the rest of the front that I could see were men and young kids so that would check out with that theory.
Stex OC fans, can you help me name my OC? I finally settled on a design this morning and I've had a try at drawing them but I just can't figure out what their name is!
(I haven't drawn in a very long time so this isn't quite what I wanted but I'm happy enough with it)
They are a crew car used to carry a relief crew for long freight or passenger journeys, or just to provide a safe break or meal space for crew, and was originally a passenger car before being converted to save money on buying a purpose built car.
Since a crew car isn't quite freight and isn't quite a coach, I took inspiration from the freight train colour scheme and costume design and I tried to add a slightly more coach-ish flair to it (shorts instead of trousers, bit more skin, longer hair, etc)
Anyway this process actually has been really fun, researching train types and figuring out what feels right and what I like and want in my own character!
So I'm thinking of maybe going with Relay? Like relaying crew from one station to another, or relief crew acting like a relay replacing each other?
Also I'm learning to roller skate and it is 100% just so I can roll around and pretend to be a train

I had to try several different searches to find this.
2 cups dried milk (nonfat or whole)
1 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened (up to 1½ c for more chocolate flavor)
1 tsp salt
2 tbl cornstarch (or other thickener: arrow root, rice flour)
2 cups powdered sugar (3 if you like it sweeter)
Mix with whisk until it's blended and has no visible lumps.
To prepare: 1-2 tbl per 8 oz of water.

[Translated ID: A man walks into bakery, shot from behind the counter, there are many pastries visible. "Hello!" he greets, and the woman behind the counter replies with "Moin"(Dialect for a general greeting/Morning). Customer: "I'd like, uh, two normal bread rolls." Baker: "Yes, gladly!" Customer: "And one of those with the..." the man trails off as he reads the name of the baked good, which reads "Kßrbis-Knacki" (Pumpkin-Crunchie) "-with the pumpkin seeds." he continues. Baker: "Which one do you mean?" Customer: "This one, with the... pumpkin seeds." The woman grins and nods eagerly. Baker:"What're they called?" Customer: "Um, one'a- uh, "Kßrbis-Knack."" Baker: "Certainly. Would you like anything else?" Customer: "Uh, I'll take one of these uh-" it cuts to the name of the pastry in question, titled "Ich bin ein dummes Stßck Dreck" (I'm a dumb piece of dirt) Ominous music swells as the scene changes between the two, the woman is looking expectingly while the man shows slight distress. Customer: "One- One of those Nutella-Berliner?" Baker: "I just don't know what you mean...!" she replies, accusingly. The man stutters. Customer: "One- One of like, those there!" Baker, her face gleeful: "You're gonna need to say it! What is it called?" Customer: "I-" he halts. Again it cuts to the name of the item, then he continues. "I am a dumb piece of dirt?" Baker: "Gladly! Anything else?" The shot shows the man still in discomfort as she asks him. It cuts to another pastry, named "Ich bin eine kleine, gierige Sau *grunz grunz*" (I am a small, greedy, pig *snort snort*). The music swells further. Customer: "This one?" he pleads. Baker nodding in glee: "You know what you have to do." Customer distressed: "I-I am a small greedy pig, snort snort?" Baker, threateningly: "Do it!" It changes between a closeup of her eyes staring at him to his face as he hesitates, then he produces a grunting noise akin to a pig as the tense music cuts. Baker: "That'll be 13.50⏠then, please! Have a good day!" she says as the man walks out of the bakery. Another man enters the bakery. Other Man: "Hi! I'd like to have one "I hate my dad", and two "I've got a small di-" the video cuts off the rest of the word. End ID. ]
oh this is a life saver
So these are both âAw Fuck Iâm outta real foodâ meals BUT ALSO: if youâre learning how to cook, these are great âbaby stepsâ meals to learn how to cook basics into something enjoyable without âwastingâ anything expensive. Though I maintain that even cooking screw-ups are valuable in terms of lessons learned.
Also theyâre great for when you get absorbed in something and you realize your blood sugar is dropping and you need to make something Quick.
Making basic storecupboard or fridge ingredients less basic and more nutritious.
This is wonderful.
im really losing my shit thinking about vulcan childrens music and television. who could forget such hits as â3 is an appropriate numberâ and âwalking in the street could lead to maiming or deathâ
the vulcan equivalent of the wiggles is just 3 normally dressed individuals reciting multiplication tables in unison
Speaking as someone with very little knowledge of Star Trek - Iâve seen like three episodes from random versions and I read Spockâs World - I violently disagree with this.
Even before I had such minimal knowledge as I do now, I thought that âvulcanâ was a very appropriate word for them. Itâs not that they donât have emotions, if anything they have more than humans, they just run hard and deep, like volcanoes. You donât want that thing to erupt.
So I imagine vulcan childrenâs TV is much like Sesame Street. Here is a muppet with anger issues! He spilled his milk and it made him ANGRY!!! Here comes someone dressed in completely normal clothes to say yes, that was indeed unfortunate, but anger is an irrational response to such a thing and not in keeping with the teachings of Surak; let us now explore different forms of meditation as emotional control, one of which includes three normally dressed individuals reciting multiplication tables in unison.
Reblog if its ok to spam you with boops
ohhhhh I get it now. the "gifted kid" discourse exists because people see it fundamentally as a sign of Privilege and not as a largely meaningless category that puffs up weird children before setting them up for the same unremarkable lives as everyone else; thus they interpret people going "the educational system gave me false expectations before ultimately abandoning me to the same heartless world as everyone else" as "why am I, The Main Character, not getting everything I ever wanted."
Ngl I feel like I never really understood gifted kid discourse because it was so different in my school system.
When I was at school my teachers told me outright that they weren't allowed to let me learn anything above our grade (note: not teach me, let me learn. I couldnt have or do anything above our level in the class) because it was considered an Unfair Advantage by the school system. I also couldn't do extra questions or read above the class level because again, Unfair Advantage. At least one year my teacher told me that if I wanted to bring a book to read for the half hour or so I was supposed to sit still and wait for class to finish then she would pretend she didn't see me do it.
So, I'm always hearing about people being in special programs and not really being able to relate to the discourse at all because my experience was pretty much all sitting silently in the back not allowed to move until everyone else was finished which feels really unfair to everybody because that's extra pressure on people who were struggling to know that someone else isn't allowed to do anything but wait until they've understood the questions. As you can imagine that definitely did Not help with socialising or making friends.
To me being labelled a gifted kid has always meant being a burden on everyone around you at worst and an inconvenience at best.
Well I think we can call this page from the Ghosts Button House Archives a bald faced lie now
Wonka 2023 review that nobody asked for:
It had potential, definitely had the starts of something but unfortunately seemed held back by vibes of manufactured whimsy and lacklustre songs.
There were definitely things I liked; Hugh Grant as an oompa loompa? 10/10 I have no notes. Chocoholic monks and a chocolate vat under the city? Go on, it was fun. Selling chocolate in unusual places until a shop could be found? That worked for me.
There was a moment where Timothee says that many things have tried to eat him that felt incredibly Wonka-like and I so desperately wish he channeled more of that character.
Trouble is Wonka never really developed or grew (except learning to read), from the start he had magical ingredients and special tricks and it almost seemed like from the very start of his career he was at exactly the same level as when we see him again in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Exact same skills, same tricks, same style. I think it would worked better to be flavours and fillings in that world of plain chocolate and maybe use the hover choc bit as an important "we need something special for the grand opening" rather than have it from the beginning.
You know what, I see where anon was getting confused because tbf many posh Londoners think (incorrectly) that England is just London and the surrounding areas when it comes to funding. The HS2 fiasco just proves it.
I also find it funny how much England wants Wales to be a part of the UK but forgets Wales exists half the time. Like do you want our country or not?
I mean, yes, that is true. But actually, this is one of those areas where I'm not willing to give northern English people a pass either, because as unpopular as this particular point is definitely going to be, they are literally as likely as southerners to say "England" when they mean "Britain" themselves. That is a pan-English practice. To be honest, I have never, ever found there to be less Celtophobia in northern England than the south; the only real difference I've ever spotted is that southerners are more likely to be arrogantly mask-off about it from the jump, whereas northerners are more likely to distance themselves from it and claim it's all southerners doing it.
Tell you who else often does it and really should know better - the Irish. It's very, very common to have Irish people say England instead of Britain. Every time I see yet another Irish celebrity doing it I'm like ET TU, ĂIRE
Oh my god yes, Ireland is so weird about Wales! I've been living there for years now and I swear I've heard more jokes about me being welsh than I did in the UK. I've had lads try to pick me up in bars with sheep jokes, friend's parents have told me that my "English is great", and nobody seems to be able to use England, Britain, and UK right even though they seem to be able to do it when Northern Ireland is involved in the conversation.
I also had a coworker try to insist to me that Welsh isn't actually a language but just a dialect of Irish, and I still don't think she's accepted she's wrong on that one.
âWhatâs that?â
The greatest use of a Spice Girls song ever.
haven't seen the anyone upload the best video of the welsh holiday horse skull yet
