Does Ianto have a favorite kind of flower?
It may sound odd. The flowers aren’t generally considered beautiful and they do kind of get everywhere, which he knows people assume he would hate, they’re not the type of flower you pick up on the way home to give the person you love.
But, Ianto has a soft spot for Baby’s Breath nonetheless.
And it isn’t a mystery to him, it isn’t as though it’s something he can’t quite put a finger on as to why he likes them so much. No, he knows exactly why. In their own right, they don’t seem that special. In fact they are kind of plain. But, they pull bouquets together. Bouquets seem like just a bunch of flowers until you fill the gaps with Baby’s Breath, the simple and tiny white flowers pull everything together and make it one cohesive arrangement. They add that last final piece and together it is all special and beautiful. And he likes that the flowers are small, the point of Baby’s Breath is that all of the little blossoms together is what makes the flower. They are beautiful, no matter what anyone else may say.
In all honesty, Baby’s Breath reminds Ianto of himself. And he knows this is why, he will easily admit it. They remind him of his place in the world, of his place in Torchwood particularly.
He says this to Jack one day, probably in a tipsy ramble as he lay on top of him in the earliest hours of morning. And the next time Jack decided to be romantic, he brought Ianto a single red rose with baby’s breath tied around it.
does anyone else with adhd accidentally hijack conversations because somewhere in your brain a connection was made from whatever the person who started was saying and your brain just goes and goes and goes and your mouth follows and then you realize a few minutes later that you’re suddenly having a conversation that isn’t quite what the other person was trying to talk about and then you feel bad because you didn’t mean to it just happened and now you don’t want the other person to think you didn’t want to talk about whatever they said in the first place your brain just saw a starting point and took off without you really realizing it?
