brett was more than ecstatic about the semi party that was planned that night, and he was more then proud of his involvement. knowing that with the request of alcohol meant that it was a good excuse to show off his party tricks, and a good excuse to get drunk with his pals. after setting up a table, cups filled to the brim with beer. it might have not been a college frat, but brett was capable of bringing the best out of everyone, especially at a party, and a party wasn’t one unless there was beer pong and he was ready for some competition, and to drink himself under the table. 

brett stood up on the couch, and whistled, cup of beer in hand, and yelled, “now who the hell is ready for some beer pong! and i’m sorry but if you say no, i don’t think you’re hudson material.” he joked. “no but seriously, if you think you’re the best here, you better have some good aim to prove it. and i like a challenge.” he winked. more then ready to take on any of his classmates. very confident with his skills, especially when it came to beer pong, he’d like to think of himself as a champ.

Normally, Max would have let the hyper-active, loud people like Brett do their own thing. He would let them show off and keep his distance, and Max would be the quiet but efficient one who came out on top in the end, who made himself look all the better for it by keeping his boasting on the inside. Tonight though, Max was going to step up to the plate. Brett had done the worst thing a person could do around Max. He had said the word challenge.

"You sure you want to put that kinda karma out there, buddy?" Max grinned. Brett was the guy to beat around Hudson. He was as talented as any of the recruits, young, athletic, resourceful, but his pride would be his downfall. "You know you're not the only royalty in this place. But if you really want to lose, I can step up to the plate." Max winked.

The music was loud, the mind-altering liquids were flowing, and Kat was feeling nothing but a shot of nostalgia for the high school and college nights where she’d sneak out of her prison to go and get wild, for once. Here, the party was in her prison, and she didn’t know if that made it better or worse. The only way to solve that dilemma was to ignore it, at least for now, and drown herself in a bottle of vodka. And though she didn’t know most of the spies-in-training well, she figured that alcohol was the best social lubricant for their-aged kids anyway, so she jumped in, trying to keep her reservations at bay. “Now, who’s going to step up and take a shot with me?”

Max could have been elsewhere. He could have gone to the gym to train, he could have gone to bed (so long as he had some ear plugs to use), he could have gone to the library. But he was still at the party, keeping an eye on everyone and making a mental note of anything people did that could potentially be used against them later. People were stupid when they were drunk. And he had no intention to get stupid with them. Still, the offer of a free shot wasn't something he could turn down, not if he wanted to blend. "You buying, sweetheart? I’m game."

     The party was in full swing around him, people dancing and talking and drinking like they didn’t have a care in the world. It was the kind of controlled chaos so many people thrived on, but Noah found himself lingering on the fringes, not quite involved but not quite ignored either. The drink in his hand was supposed to be some sort of punch, but all Noah could taste was the vodka. He’d been looking for a friendly face for a while, some he felt comfortable going up to in his slightly inebriated state and was happy to spot Cole across the room. 

     He made his way through the crowd, only bumping into someone once before coming to a stop in front of the other boy, a too wide smile on his face. “You looked a little lonely over here all by yourself, and rumor has it that I’m great company drunk.”

It took a special kind of person to be offended when someone went out of their way to make an effort with them. Max wouldn't necessarily say he was offended by Noah's appraoch, but he definitely was a little taken aback by it, and he didn't exactly wear the friendliest face when he structured his response.

"Lonely? I've never been lonely a day in my life." Like many things Max said, it was a lie he didn't even realize was a lie. He was well and truly lonely. He didn't even have contract with his brother any more, but he didn't let emotions like that take hold of him. He didn't even acknowledge them. He focused on the future. "Who started that rumor? Are you making an effort to prove them right?"

Even someone was serious as Max couldn’t hold it against people for wanting to blow off some steam. His way of blowing off steam had been pretty similar. Some drinks, maybe a boxing match, finding his way into someone’s bed and sneaking out right after... That one was off the table while he was here though. It got awkward when you had to continue to see the person every day. The point remained though, that Max understood blowing off steam was healthy. And that still wasn’t going to stop him from giving Dean a hard time.

He spotted the kid in the hallway. It was hard not to, tall as he was. When Max had first seen him, his first thought had been that he was a physical specimen. He could do some real damage. Shame the real thing was so disappointing. “Hey tough guy,” Max greeted, the ghost of a grin on his face, his voice sarcastic, in a deadpan way. “You sure beer is a good idea? We got training in the morning. You’re sluggish enough without a hangover.”

     Sleep had been a foreign concept the past month as training had consumed every hour of her day. Outside of the required lessons, Eva found herself either tirelessly attempting to lift weights in the gym or ( like tonight ) lost in a pile of books trying to learn everything she could. Even in her own area of expertise, she was still far from the best out of those here for medical, and it only caused the rise of stress to push away any hope of a decent night’s rest. Though she preferred the comfort of her bed, she couldn’t find it in herself to force Violet to also stay up longer than she had to. This night was different as she was halfway through a book on self-defense when another agent caught her attention. “Good night,” she said from her book eclipsed couch almost instinctively before looking back down.

Max wasn't the most social of creatures. But nor was he anti-social. He was somewhere in between, talking to people when necessary but keeping his mind on himself and his studies for the most part. He'd only been wandering through the common room to use the vending machine when Eva's book caught his eye. "A book on self-defense?" He quirked an eyebrow, getting her attention. "You know there's a lot better ways to learn, like by actually practicing. What do you say? Need a sparring partner?"

It’s a beautiful scene, a warm park bathed in the suns orange glow. For one, the colour doesn’t remind him of fire, the smell of gasoline and burning doesn’t pass his nose, and the rope of the swings doesn’t remind him of his sister .And her metaphorical rope. It’s a comfort, a blessing that goes away, as it always does. 

BANG. The door to his left slams shut sharply. The noise echos throughout the room, reverberating through the metal chair he had dragged against the wall. It was meant to have been a minute of shut eye. It was later on in the night, but until then he couldn’t seen. The dark of his room had been cold, and his blankets felt more suffocating than comforting. Figures. He couldn’t get comfy on the one night he was bone tired.

The training room was a welcome sight, it allowed him to work off extra energy in a productive way. Rather than what he did before. Turns out, its seemingly hard metal chairs also make a good makeshift nap corner. Though as comforted and content he had been a second ago, icy cold embarrassment was threatening to drip down his spine. He didn’t wanna be that guy that fell asleep in here and everyone made a joke out of it. This wasn’t highschool, and these aren’t the kids of his past. But he still feels the need to rise above them. He’s the cool kid, he always has to be that guy. 

“Sup? Didn’t think anyone else would be up this late.” It is after all, far later than what most would call bedtime. Than what Jude himself would rather be in bed by.

Max didn't know what to make of the kid. He was clearly smart or else he wouldn't have been here, and the youthful fire in him, the fact he's one of the youngest people in the class while Max is one of the oldest, it might make him a threat. But there was also a kind of destruction that followed him around, the immaturity of youth, and a darkness that hung over him like a dark cloud. That made him a wild card. It gave him an Achilles Heel.

"That's your first mistake, kid," Max answered, his tone deadpan in a way that most people usually took as rude. Max didn't feel like he was rude. He felt like he was honest. Some people just couldn't take it. "Assuming what other people are gonna do."

The fact Jude was up this late threatened to be impressive, except for the fact that he seemed to have been sleeping in the corner. Maybe his work out had just been extra intense...

"You okay, little dude?" Max asked, not really out of concern but out of curiosity. Knowledge could be powerful, and knowing the competition could give him an edge. "Something wrong with your dorm room?"
