It'd been a long week. A really long week. And even that was an understatement. As Pete's eyelids fluttered open, initially protesting at the bright light flooding into the bedroom, he stretched a little before turning his head to face the other person now sharing his bed. "Hey," he said, a smile flickering onto his face. "Sleep okay?" Not that much /sleeping/ had occurred, if he was remembering correctly. (First week awkward relationship stuff I dunno)
A quick darkness passed over Myka’s eyes as her lids fluttered, adjusting to sunlight pouring in from the window. The warmth spread up her body as she felt the mattress shift in weight, Pete no doubt turning to face her, as she could see out of her peripheral line of sight. With a light sigh, she heard his question, voice filling the silence of the peaceful room. Myka then did the same as Pete had, only in the opposite direction. Suddenly, her view changed from the pale-coloured ceiling, to the features that framed a face she had come to know a lot better over the past week. Gently nodding, a lock of hair slipping down and brushing her face, she tucked it behind her ear and smiled. Was she blushing again? Probably. “Yeah.” the brunette confirmed lightly, green eyes meeting brown. “Yeah, I did.” A small smile crept on to her lips as she scooted closer to him, desiring the closeness even further.
A small smile crept onto Pete’s still-sleepy face as he blinked, resting his head back down on his pillow. “Good,” he said, though keeping his voice quiet. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he’d never exactly been an early riser, but…he loved these moments. The moments in-between work and sleep — the brief ones before they got up to start their day. His lips upturned a little as he caught the blush on her face, something entirely un-Myka-like. And then he reached a hand over, cupping her cheek and brushing his thumb across her soft skin. “Another day,” he murmured, scooting a little closer himself. “And we’re still here.”
Leaning in a bit as he touched her cheek, her lids fluttered closed for a second, revelling in the warmth of his palm. When they opened again, her green orbs scanning over his face again, she smiled."Yeah, we are Pete." It was of course terrifying, having to go day by day unsure of if their home was going to be taken from them. . . but at least now they had each other. Like really had each other. Differently than before, they were more than just friends or partners. . . Myka knew there was something different about this relationship. She she hadn't felt like this with Sam. She had loved him, but not like this. This was different this was Pete and Myka. She would really never get tired of thinking about those two names, their names, together like that. She loved it. "I'm damn happy about it too." A quiet giggle escaped her as she leaning in for a short, but of course extremely meaningful kiss.
