both…. both… currently this is what i have and i have a lot of empty space to decide what to do with… nessa’s & norm’s room are going on the lower floor along w/ the lab space. what am i doing w the remaining living space on the second floor i do not know. does heinz’s room go there or in the misc room? i also need a hallway w storage rooms. also the hallway curves in some episodes — do i just add that on the bottom floor since there is space for that? is that too inconsistent?

I believe all the apartment rooms/bedrooms are on the same lower level. you can see doof's bedroom here

and I'm guessing it's behind this wall with the stereos here (it's not really visible here but it pops out)

I'm not sure if this works with your layout because I think that would go where the hallway is but it could possibly be in the blank space to the left of the kitchen? I don't think it's in the misc room

the door is directly opposite the kitchen if that helps I think you already have that though

it might be that the living space is a lot bigger and there's less room in the big blank space on the left? I think the 2 labs are on different floors so they're not right next to each other

maybe the misc room could be the cheese room that doesn't seem to have a proper space anywhere

I don't think you need to worry about being inconsistent because this whole building is inconsistent all the time. I think it canonically gets rebuilt quite often so the layout probably changes a lot (and irl the storyboard artists or whoever does this probably don't have an exact layout planned, it varies so much from episode to episode)

for clarification, the top floor is on top and the bottom one is the one below.

so main thing of note is that the living space *does* connect to the upper landing because sometimes it has a pool and is a living area. it alternates between living + lab landing depending on the episode (which is a nightmare) but to keep consistency with that detail, the main living space opens up to the upper landing as well as part of the lab area.

in regards to the two labs, i wanted to *try* to keep it consistent as in some episodes they exit through one lab and enter through the other. my current solution to this problem is a ’split level’ lab so the lab of the lower floor has a staircase / platforms that go up to the upper floor.

however, it is also mentioned that vanessa’s room is on the lower level and I think (do not quote me on this) in an episode it is shown to open to the lab — therefore my thought was to split the living area into both the top and bottom floor with vanessa’s room being in almost a ’second apartment’ space. is this fully canon consistent? no but since it’s a penthouse, it makes sense the spaces span two floors.

i did struggle quite a lot with the space of doof’s room but that comes with the placement of the hallway needing to connect with the other side (as that was the place that felt the most sensible and there is an internal hallway) so i can definitely tinker around there to make that work.

i’m also struggling with the hallways because they do curve but where the heck do I get space for that

the apartment layout is. it needs work. but this is like, kind of my thought? and just imagine the upper landing and lower landing lab are like connected with a platform-ish staircase

Here's the third comic in the Open World AU. I decided it would be more interesting if the cast also had some limited ability to conjure and worldcraft, so I wanted to explore that. This comic is both the longest I've done yet and is the most involved painting-wise. I hope it was worth the wait!
