An unusual quiet descends on the house.
Something something the idea of the ship of Theseus as shown through House of Leaves about how separated from the source material can a book be until it is no longer about the source material. Navidson is Theseus, his ship is the documentary, and the ship being taken apart and replaced is people’s analysis of the record. You, the reader, do not possess a single part of the actual Navidson record, nor does Johnny, and it does not exist to be found. At what point of analysis does House of Leaves stop being about the Navidson record? Is my collage still about it if the book itself never even existed but I still made this exact piece? the Minotaur is still crying and dead in the house on Ash Tree Lane.
