Story time, two seasons ago my friend tripped on the mat and broke her foot during the last run before our second show of the season, a week later she was in a walking boot spinning with the rest of us on her very broken foot. Last season, about a month before competitions started I stepped into a turn wrong and dislocated my patella, a month later I was cleared to go back as long as I kept my rather bulky knee brace strapped firmly in place. My first rehearsal was the day of our parent show, two days before our first competition, and I did not miss a single practice or performance once I was cleared to go back. It didn’t matter how much pain she or I were in, we both finished those seasons strong, and got voted most likely to trip over the floor mat at the end of the two seasons
