âlet me get that for you.â the male speaks as he looks at her, glancing her up and down slowly. nariâs expression changes, though inside sheâs still annoyed especially since she wasnât exactly ready to be dealing with some overly-confident douche. she watches as the male begins to pour her a drink, though something, or rather someone, catches her attention out of the corner of her eye. nari takes a moment to glance over, noticing the familiar and handsome face of chulmoo across the kitchen. she makes a point to act as if she hadnât noticed him and turns her attention back to the stranger in front of her as he hands her the drink.
nari takes the drink into her left hand, lifting her right hand to gently touch the maleâs arm as she smiles at him and thanks him for his assistance, faking a believable laugh at some lame joke he ends up making. âoh, youâre soo funny!~â her words loud enough for practically everyone to hear within the kitchen.

He really shouldnât be surprised to see her here. They ran in similar circles it seemed, though it had only been somewhat recently that those circles seemed to collide. In all honesty, Chul couldnât say why he hadnât noticed Nari beforeâ maybe he was too busy playing his own little game, or hanging out with his fraternity brothers â but the moment he got a good look at her, it was like he had been knocked in the head. Or maybe he had been hit in the head by a wayward ping pong ball, but still the sentiment stood. And like any other party, Chul had approached her, flirted with her openly because thatâs what he did.Â
Sure college was for maybe passing a few classes and getting a degree, but from day one Chulmoo had decided he wanted to savor every moment, no regrets. He flirted with anything with two legs, charmed his way into class notes and through sturdy groups, drank anything offered to him at a party. His social life was his fraternity and parties, stupid jokes and pranks, and no attachments. That had been his own decision since the beginning; he wasnât going to bother with girls who wanted more because it wasnât worth his time. It ruined the fun of it all. Hell, he was too young to be held down!Â
And yet, his eyes found Nari easily when he entered the kitchen. The harder he tried to ignore her and focus on talking to one of his friends, the more he seemed to fail. âMaybe I should have worn that dress too,â his friend commented, only mildly annoyed that Chul hadnât been paying attention to his story.Â
âShut up,â Chulmoo scoffed into his cup, only managing to focus his attention on his friend for a moment before the sound of Nariâs laughter broke through a few breaks in the music on the other side of the wall. âIt seems like that guy is really into what sheâs got on too,â his friend commented, seemingly giving up on capturing Chulâs attention.Â
He couldnât say why but the comment bugged Chulmoo, and without thinking â perhaps it was the alcohol-- he found himself making his way towards the pair. Maybe there were a few people who called to him and looked his way as he passed, but the young manâs gaze was locked and didnât waver until he had invaded the other twoâs circle. His hand reached out to clap the other man on the shoulder, as he smiled almost hollowly at him, for once not looking at Nari at all. âOh man, whatâs so funny? Iâm all up for a good joke.âÂ
