When I moved to California there were a few images I brought with me of my family. A question was asked recently "if your house was on fire, and you could only grab one image, what would it be?" well let's be honest, I would grab several and risk being burned. But this one, is one I needed to take with me cross country. My father who is one of my favorite people in this world, has gone through a roller coaster in his life time. He's faced alcoholism, addiction and lost his leg and many other life long trials. Two nights ago my father was brought into a hospital where he faces another up hill battle. I know everyone goes through tough times and eventually loose the ones they love it's natural, however I want to encourage everyone, photographer or not to photograph. To print your images, to let these images stand in a room with you for a life time. This image is special to me because it shows my father in his prime, he's filled with life and love and happiness. This photo has seen my ups and downs for over 10 years now. It reminds me of him at his best. This reminds me that photography is such a beautiful thing. As a photographer I feel it is my duty to decide what memories stay. And I want this one to stay. #agsphotoart #photographerlife #wechoosewhatstays #family (at Honesdale, Pennsylvania)
