Stretches of time alone in the darkness above the earth weighed on me. He hadn’t come back. I wanted him there, next to me. I wanted to take the earth and crush it between my hands for stealing him away. But I couldn’t, because he loved it, and, I told myself, that his love for earth was his love for me. It was for me. It was supposed to be for me. It never felt like it was for me. I never wanted it.

Sitting at 4.1k words, Moon, Sun, Stars is a short story centered around / based on the Filipino myth of Tungkung Langit and Alunsina, aka the creator of the world and his wife.

Featuring: a love that couldn't save itself, a ghost story, a creation myth, a silver comb, a golden crown, and a pearl necklace.

This was originally for a comics class, but I wasn't super happy with what I submitted, so I retouched pretty much all of it! It was a challenge to fit the whole story into the initial 6 page limit (I ended up adding an extra one here to help smooth things out), but I had a lot of fun working on it! Enjoy!

Also, while researching I stumbled upon a database of medieval manuscript artwork, and the works there served as the inspiration for some of the visuals! I'd highly recommend checking it out!
