brienne spends her whole life dedicated to kindness and goodness, to doing the right thing in all circumstances. not because any authorities above her actually compell her to do so, but because she is convinced that they do. she is convinced in the goodness of the authorities she submits herself to. she believes in the rightness of the system.

jaime belongs to a family that does harm to others as a matter of course. through his family, and through doing an ultimately good thing in his youth, jaime has been cemented in other people's eyes as evil. underneath it he's driven by love and cares deeply about the world and its people. he learned very young that the system is corrupt.

But he does make so many other choices.

He CHOOSES to return to Harrenhal for Brienne. He CHOOSES to give her Oathkeeper. He CHOOSES to take Riverrun without bloodshed for her. He CHOOSES to fuck loyalty and fight by her side.

It all boils down to choices in the end because he didn’t have to do any of it.

It all boils down to the fact that Jaime CHOOSES Brienne over Cersei, though he might not have chosen to fall for her.
