The hate I hold for you makes me an insomniac

It crawls onto my bed and slithers beneath my back

The hate I hold for you cuts deep from within

It seeps out from my stomach and leaves bruises on my skin

The hate I hold for you has a functioning mind

It makes me a puppet and spews venom unkind

The hate I hold for you is a rabid dog: foaming

The hate I hold for you is a pressurized geyser: steaming

The hate I hold for you is a volcano: erupting

so i'm a custodian.

whenever someone does something cool like shit on the bathroom floor or get blood all over a toilet, i have to close the bathroom down by blocking the doorway with a CLOSED sign.

this sign is big and bright. it says CLOSED in four languages and has a do not enter symbol. it completely blocks the doorway. the only way to enter is to look directly at the sign and either move it or climb over it.

almost every single time i shut down a bathroom so i can suit up and clean a biohazard, someone will enter the bathroom with a dead-eyed, slack-jawed expression and try to wordlessly walk past me to use a stall.

and every single time, i have to block their path and say, "this bathroom is closed. there is one directly down the hall, marked by signs. please leave," and they either try to argue that THEY specifically should be allowed to use this one, as if they are god's most special little guy, or express shock even though they, again, had to contend with the CLOSED sign to enter.

often, i am standing there in the middle of cleaning up bodily fluids having to firmly repeat myself. they always leave angry or confused.

im 17 years old

i trip over the plates stacked on the side of my bed

i go to put a record on

a boy who loved me gave me that 2 years ago

im high in my bed, laying awake and thinking:

this is the same bed i had sex with them in

i turn over and try to focus on the music

i dream of him

i glance at the mark on my hand from last nights concert

i missed going to those concerts

We are all beautiful in that moment.

God, I missed being beautiful

im 17 years old

and soon to be eighteen years old

im afraid of getting older

will i learn to love myself properly

or will i grow old, scarred with years of self hatred decaying me

Growing up I guess I always knew what I wanted.

I wanted to be a sex symbol.

I wanted people to swoon,

i wanted love and adoration at every turn.

I think about her sometimes before i sleep

She was a tragedy

we still loved him with everything.

His freedom always came at a cost.

He got more disant.

Still beautiful.

Just hard to touch,

to get close to.

Our late nights turned sour,

drinking without dancing.

He would wipe our tears when we cried.

The world came crushing around us,

he couldnt deny it,

all we could do was hold each other.

She came in,

hard to touch, but promising beauty.

She told us she would love us, hold us.

She showed us beauty and love,

not despite responsibility,

inside it.

It was beautiful.

I loved her with everything.

She would always change soon enough.

Never being able to maintain the beauty

I couldnt blame her.

I still loved her.

She was fleeting.

When it came too much,

she would leave.

We didnt miss her,

but we all knew that when the time came,

seeing her would be beautiful again.
