also i rly feel like 4-5-6 are meant to mirror the trilogy now, except 4/5/6 is for apollo

1&4: introduce new lawyer, set up foundation, partner that was previously connected in some way (mentor’s sister, actual sister)

2&5: event that shakes the lawyers convictions or beliefs in some way, a realization at the end about what their job means

3&6: bringing together various threads, proof that the lawyer has grown and can stand on their own

there are obviously some massive differences, but i feel like the structure (kinda like a valley, with 2/5 being generally less arc-heavy than the first and third of each set) of each trilogy follows the same cure for phoenix and then apollo

though, if they really do follow through on what i’m CONVINCED is foreshadowing, they aren’t done with apollo yet; 7 could be to apollo what 4/5 were to phoenix: setting up a new position, while still getting some kind of arc of their own (for phoenix, it was his place as a mentor. for apollo, it’d be getting closure for his family)

This entirely. There were some problems with Dual Destinies as an Act 2 (mostly because it wasn’t about Apollo’s main story at all), but hopefully we’re going to get the game we’ve been waiting for!

Sousuke’s Death and The Guitar’s Serenade

Kudos to @redasatomato for completely and utterly destroying me with this.

Okay so, take a look at the lyrics.

The stand out lines are the last two verses: Sousuke died in a fire while performing, and

bro tended to perform with an acoustic guitar (just like this song was performed with).  Since it was a performance, the guitar likely burned up with him.

The other lyrics though….verse one is a first meeting.  Verse two could be about how short-lived their love was; they were only married a year, after all.

Outside canon, I almost wouldn’t be surprised if they took inspiration for Sousuke’s scenario and death from this song.

In canon, though, we run into a weird problem.  It’s stated explicitly in 4-3 that Lamiroir wrote the song for Klavier’s lyrics.  Sure, Lamiroir was amnesiac anyway, but it would have created an interesting situation where she was subconsciously recalling things.  One other option that still exists is that his lyrics hit close to home for her, which easily allowed her to write a melody for a guitar when usually her songs don’t use one….or maybe recall a melody she had heard a long time ago.  There’s also the idea that they talked about the song and lyrics together, and Klavier used their conversations as inspiration.

Either way, This Isn’t Fair.

hi! i have a quick question! so i've seen a couple of the localization names and they're... really bad. like, don't-seem-to-have-any-effort-put-into-them-at-all bad. there's ahlbi urgaid (i'll be your guide) which we already knew, and then paht rohl (patrol), the guard who was the victim, and tehm pul temple (why)... so what i wanted to know is, are the japanese names this bad? because it's really disappointing seeing them just take something and spell it in a ~foreign~ way and call it a name.

cross my heart and hope to die, the japanese names are THAT BAD

since i remember all of these:

ahlbi urgaid was bokuto tsuaani (ボクト　ツアーニ), which is the jp phrase 僕とツアーに (boku to tsua- ni) spelled out. it’s basically “go on a tour with me”

paht rohl was mima waruhito (ミマ　ワルヒト), and 見回る人 (mimawaruhito) is basically “person who patrols”

finally, tehm’pul temple was originally jiiin jiin (ジーイン寺院)….quite literally “temple temple” with an added long vowel sound

so i promise, the awful, AWFUL puns this time around? not localization’s fault.

when the official website updated right before the game came out i laughed about all of the gameplay mechanics they had because, in total, they listed:

psyche locks (2) [saara, datz]

perceive (4) [trucy, pearl, druk, nayuta]

mood matrix (3) [kiki, bifuu, hilne]

divination seance (4) [case 1, case 3, case 5 x2]

video comparison (1) [case 2]

scientific investigation (4) [case 2 x1, case 3 x1, case 5 x2]

revisualization (6) [each trial; twice in case 5]

and while i’m aware they’re split 3 vs 4 for investigation/court, you know what happened???

the numbers in parenthesis were how many times they wound up being used, by my memory.  you were guaranteed a revisualization at the end of a trial, but there were no 5-lock psyche lock sections, they once again let you do perceive/magatama mechanics right then and there, the brand new video mechanic was used ONCE, and overall i feel like there was a lot less of this stuff, this time around.  it could just be bc the mood matrix got a shit ton of use in gs5, tho, so it feels kinda weird to have it appear so little.

dirk channeling timeline bc it’s a THING

dirk saves maya; dirk is killed by inga

maya goes to japan and channels dirk as a favor to him for saving her

everyone travels to khura’in bc of a phone call to trade the treasure for maya–a bluff.  dirk calls the bluff; they then they get dirk to agree by talking about their “important person” (amara) also being in danger, and to keep his secret, he goes along with the blluff

dirk goes in to “save maya”.  he is forced from maya’s body by amara; she channels him.

amara!dirk is arrested. maya is taken to the hospital

after a certain part in the trial, dirk disappears. he says to datz he “doesn’t want to put amara in danger”

dirk cancels his own channeling, leaving amara alone. she disguises herself as baaya, who had been missing all day, and appears at the trial

any time after nayuta rescinds his confession, you can trigger a bad end

in this end, dirk was proven innocent of inga’s murder, but you couldn’t find the true culprit nor could you prove dirk innocent of the assassination 23 years ago

with nayuta, you escape underground pursued by galan’s reign, join the revolutionary forces, and aim to topple her government.

you continue like that, taking dirk’s teaching’s–the dragon never yields–to heart, dreaming of the day the revolution will finally come
