«I was great friend with the Italians in the CIAM, Banfi (who died in prison), Peressutti, Rogers (Rogers stayed here a long time during the war - he was Jewish - to be safe from the Italians and even more so from the Germans). And the other one, what was his name? Still alive, yes, Belgiojoso… Yes at that time, in 1927, I was working in Le Corbusier’s studio. I remember once, for the two Weissenhof houses it was, he sent the drawings to Stuttgart, I was supposed to be site assistant and needed information, so I asked him to come but he couldn’t. So I had to do the interior decoration myself, and I designed that be called “Lit Le Corbusier” for a long time, but I was actually the one who designed it.»
