The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those that cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.

(Ent)ree, a cafe specializing in cricket fondue, is situated at the entrance to a radically reinvented alleyway. It reclaims the backside of Robson Street with the food of the future (entotarianism - serving crickets), serving as the mediator between the public and that which they have traditionally found unattractive.
Embracing the structure itself as a design driver, the form of the diag- onal cut exposes the interweaving of concrete and copper. A system of panels and connectors facilitates a dynamic facade that responds to the needs of the program at different times.

A Cricket Fondue Cafe for an Alleyway Final model: Interior Materials: acrylic and paint

The greatest regret I have is that, early in my career, I showed myself such cruelty for not having accomplished anything significant. I spent so much time trying to write, but was paralyzed by how behind I felt. Many years later I realized that if I had written only a couple of pages a day, I would’ve written 500 pages at the end of a year (and that’s not even working weekends). Any contribution you make on a daily basis is fantastic. I still happen to write almost everything at once, but I now cut myself slack on all of the thinking and procrastination time I use. I know that it’s all part of my creative process.

Experimentation in modeling with Rockite.
Striving to be loose and imaginitive, these experiments move towards a theme of exposed structure and protruding connectors.

Really interesting tour of the Armtec pre-cast concrete facility today.
Urban Design in an Alleyway Making a render using Photoshop collaging techniques: final product and process shots.
Wrapped up a series of outreach workshops for the Grandview-Woodland Community Plan.
Study: Model of a Precedent
Lucky Drops (Thin House) by Atelier Tekuto
Model materials: Acrylic, vellum, and wood
This study emphasizes how efficient use of materials enable the home’s thin form (responding to an extremely narrow land parcel). The translucent building envelope supports this, allowing sunlight to enter during the house during the day, and interior light to illuminate the structure (animating the street) by night.
Quick render for an alleyway intervention design.
A weekend community consultation workshop spent mapping for the Grandview-Woodland area plan.
