"I thought we’d already established that the dog doesn’t like you?” Mary teased him, chuckling as she rested her hand lightly on his chest, staring up at him. She could not put into words how much she had missed Aiden whilst he’d been away, and she couldn’t help but notice how easily they fit back into their old ways. “I’ve missed this.” She murmured the words, cuddling into his side more.
"Hey, he likes me he just likes you better," he argued. Aiden was happy that things weren't awkward anymore and that the time apart hadn't ruined everything. After all, he never knew when he may be called away again. Her hand rested lightly on his chest and he placed his own over it. "Me too," he admitted quietly. This was the one place and with the one person whom he actually felt comfortable not being his usual brash and violent self.
"Who doesn’t?" Mary winked, giggling as she slowly sat upright, somewhat missing the feel of his body on top of her own, despite their interruption. She would have playfully told him off for being mean to the dog, but frankly she didn’t have the heart when they looked so ridiculously adorable. One hand moving to gently stroke Necare, Mary automatically curled into Aiden’s side, her previous worries long forgotten.
"Maybe I like it that way," he joked as he set the pup down and wrapped his arm around Mary. "people aren't supposed to like me anyways. you and this dog are just seriously misguided," he teased. His apartment felt better with Mary in it with him; it didn't feel so cold and bare, and Aiden hadn't realized how much he liked that until he'd come back from travelling.
Mary found herself unable to stop laughing, head falling back to rest against the seat of the sofa as Necare managed to wriggle it’s way between them, curling up on her chest. One hand moving to stroke the little ball of fluff, Aiden’s words didn’t help with the brunette’s attempts to stop giggling. “I’m shocked, truly shocked.” Teasing him, Mary clamped down on her bottom lip as she tried to stop laughing, finding the whole situation far more amusing than she perhaps should have.
"Oh, Merlin," Aiden muttered as he sat up on the couch. He couldn't help but smile at her laughter though he was annoyed with the little pup. "He likes you better than me," he pouted, picking the dog up off of her and holding it up to his face. "you're an annoying little rat", he cooed at it, his voice soft and loving despite the words he spoke.
Nipping playfully at his bottom lip as his hand came to rest on the bare skin of her waist, Mary groaned as his lips began to sponge kisses across the flesh of her neck, hands entangling themselves in his hair as his lips moved across her skin, back arching slightly. She had missed this, had missed his touch almost as much as she had missed him. This would only be their second time and yet it felt so natural that Mary struggled to feel nervous. A light nudging in her side followed by a little bark made the brunette burst out laughing, hands releasing their grip in his hair so that they could pet the white dog that had jumped up onto the sofa next to them.
Aiden cursed loudly as Mary laughed and he felt the little ball of fluff jump up onto the couch and bark. He looked over at the dog, narrowing his eyes at the adorable creature. "Really, Necare? right now you decide to join us?" his voice was harsh but it quickly broke out into a laugh as he obliged the puppy and pet him softly. "It was bad enough taking him with me," Aiden told the girl beneath him. "Turns out fluffy little puppies aren't exactly manly."
"Right, right, the great Aiden Mulciber does not worry." Grinning, Mary’s teeth once more found her lower lip as she was pushed onto her back, hand reaching up to caress his cheek for the briefest of moments before Aiden’s lips found hers once more, a little hum of contentment escaping into the kiss as Mary wrapped her arms around his neck, holding him to her.
Aiden's hand slipped under her shirt, and he let it rest on the smooth skin of her waist as he appreciated the warmth of her body. he pulled back slightly and began kissing her jawline down her to neck, and inhaled the sweet sent of her shampoo. He hadn't realized how hungry for her he would be, but here he was and he wanted to feel every inch of her, drinking in the sensations he hadn't had in so long.
"I’m pregnant and it’s yours." Ha
"wait…. what?” Aiden asked in a bewildered tone, not sure whether he could believe it or not. His first gut reaction at the words was automatically dread, his stomach dropped and his head began to spin. He wasn’t supposed to ever have children, let alone with a muggleborn woman. He’d accepted that after he’d graduated school.
"But if He finds out, won’t you end up dead anyway? I just, please think about it.. I would understand, okay? That’s all I’m saying.”
"I'll think about it," he hesitantly agreed, "but I won't change my mind." It was crazy how one thing, a baby, could change literally everything. "Well let's just make sure He doesn't then."
Chuckling as he teased her, Mary arched an eyebrow playfully in reply, a slight smirk curving at her lips. “What do you take me for? I’ve been as alone as they come.” Feeling the way his neck tensed under her hands, Mary pressed her lips to his in a light, reassuring kiss, soft smile still present on her face. “You’re worrying again, stop.” Another light chuckle and kiss followed, thumbs resuming their soft stroking of his jawline.
He relaxed again as she denied sleeping with other people and kissed him. "I'm not worrying, I don't worry." he retorted, kissing her back happily. He pushed her over onto her back gently and looked down from above her. "I just don't like to share," he added before his lips found hers again.
Seeing his face, seeing how confused he was, how fearful he was, Mary couldn’t stop the new surge of guilt from washing through her. “Aiden, you really don’t have to do this.. I-I could just say it was a one night stand, raise the child by myself.. I don’t want to be the reason that your life ends, y-you can still walk away, I wouldn’t hate you if you did..” Mary trailed off once she realised she was rambling, teeth digging into her bottom lip as her gaze dropped to the floor.
"You don't get it, Mary.." he told her quietly. "I.. I always thought I'd end up dead or in Azkaban after all of this, but.. if I have a child.." he trailed off. I can't do that if I have a family. "it wouldn't make my life end," he finished, unable to speak his last thoughts. It'd be a reason to live. which is terrifying.
His laugh made Mary duck her head down in embarrassment, teeth digging deeper into her lip as Aiden spoke. At his admittance that he hadn’t slept with anyone else, Mary’s head shot up, a weak smile curving at her lips. “Really?” She knew she shouldn’t sound so shocked, and it wasn’t even because she didn’t trust him. She just couldn’t for the life of her understand why someone would want to just have her, when there were so many others who were so much better.
"Yes, really," he told her tilting his head to the side as a question formed in his mind. "You sound surprised. why, did you go out and have affairs with half of London?" he teased playfully. He didn't want to think she had, seeing as he really was quite a possessive person. He didn't want to think about his innocent, sweet little Mary with some other guy, and the thought nearly made him angry. but he kept his mind controlled as he waited for her to answer, trying to make the question sound like no big deal.
"R-Really?" Eyes widening slightly in surprise, Mary couldn’t help but shoot him a soft smile through her tears, unable to explain how relieved she was to hear him say he’d stick by her. Sure, it was scary, and it would be hard, but if this was going to happen, she was glad he’d be there with her throughout it. Mary didn’t want to be a single mother, and she trusted Aiden to be there for her, as he said he would be.
"Yeah..." He told her quietly. His head was a mess; he couldn't stop thinking about how wrong things could go, how bad it could get. And if he was going to stay with her.. how it would kill him if something to her and his child. He still had months, he realized, to try and make her safe, them safe. but it wouldn't be easy, particularly with her allegiance to the Order of the Pheonix. Under different circumstances he'd be expected to marry her immediately, but now.. everything they did would have to be in secret. More so than before. And what if she told her friends? what would she say?
Smile growing at his words, Mary was only too eager to return his kiss, her own hands moving to entangle themselves in his hair as their lips moved against one another. She had missed him, more than anything, but there was that one question playing on her mind that she just had to know the answer to before anything else happened. Pulling away once more, Mary kept her eyes shut as she caught her breath, ignoring the voice in her head screaming at her not to be so stupid as she murmured “Did you meet anyone whilst you were away?” Her voice was barely audible, blush returning as she waited for him to reply, hating herself for being so paranoid when she didn’t even have any right to be. After all, it wasn’t like they were an official thing, right?
Aiden sighed as she pulled away, and he wondered if he'd done something wrong. Then he heard her quietly whispered question and let out a laugh. Of course women were always questioning whether men were faithful. "I met lots of people," he joked, amusement clear in his voice. He knew that wasn't what she meant, however, and rolled his eyes as he continued with a smile. "Did I sleep with anyone? no, I didn't."
Taking a deep, shaky breath, Mary pulled away slightly to look up at him, teeth digging into her lower lip as she wondered how best to word what she wanted to say. “I-I’m keeping this baby. N-No matter what. But, y-you don’t have to, I mean-” She paused, tongue flickering out to moisten her dry lips before she continued. “I-I would understand, if you c-couldn’t. B-because of the dangers, I-You don’t have to do this.”
Aiden looked down at her as she spoke, letting her words wash over him. So she was going to keep it, that was her choice. So that means... I'm.. a father? he asked himself, the concept foreign in his mind. "If.. if you want me there, I'll be there," he told her seriously. he hadn't actually imagined that she'd want to deal with him anymore, since she knew what he was and she had to know it wouldn't be safe. But he did have to be there if she wanted it, he cared about her and he couldn't just forget about everything and leave.
Moaning softly as his hand moved to fist in her hair, Mary’s own hands moved up to lightly cup his neck, thumbs languidly stroking his jawline. Smile matching that of his own, Mary chuckled at his question, staying silent for a moment before replying, voice still teasing and soft. “Perhaps.. Did you miss me?” She knew what the answer was going to be, the grin on Aiden’s face gave it away, but she desperately wanted to hear him say it, to know he had missed her as much as she had missed him.
"Of course I missed you," Aiden admitted softly. He hadn't slept around on his travels, something that previously was unheard of. But he hadn't wanted anyone else. He kissed her again, harder this time as his hands tightened their grip on her. He wanted to tell her that he didn't ever want to leave again, but he wanted to kiss her more than speak so that's what he did.
"What am I going to do?" Mary gave an involuntary sniffle, clutching onto Aiden as though her life depended on it. She had never been so scared, and yet she couldn’t help but be annoyed with herself for it. It wasn’t as if she was young, 21 wasn’t a bad age to be having a child, she had her own home, a stable job, and a Death Eater for a boyfriend.
"Whatever you want to do," Aiden whispered into her hair. What was he supposed to say anyway? There were really only 3 options: she could get rid of it and possibly never forgive him for it, she could keep it and get as far away from him as possible, or she could keep it and they could both try and make it work, which was the most dangerous option. But he couldn't make her do this alone, not when it was as much his responsibility as hers. He didn't know what to do. there was no right answer, not in their situation.
Giggling at how flustered he became, Mary rolled her eyes as Aiden smirked, though it was a playful motion. “Well, this is me asking, love." Teasing him right back, she couldn’t help but notice the way his touch still managed to make her breath hitch in her throat, a soft smile gracing her lips just before he kissed her. Hands moving to rest on his chest, Mary hummed softly into the kiss, extremely happy at being able to do this with him again. It just felt so ridiculously normal, something which Mary was immensely grateful for.
Aiden's hand moved to the back of her neck, entangling in her hair as his other hand ghosted down to her side. The fact that if he hadn't left he could've kissed her a hundred more times like this made him wish he hadn't been called away; every stolen kiss felt more important now. He smled against her lips before pulling away just slightly, resting his forehead on hers. "Did you miss me?" he asked slightly out of breath, grin still on his face.
