This is a blog for anyone struggling with an AI addiction or anyone who has questions about it! You may think itâs silly but itâs quite common across the world!
AI chatbots has been shown to offer dopamine, relief, and artificial connection for those who struggle with any of that - neurodivergent people, people who may be struggling mentally, or those who are just struggling for whatever reason! AI chatbots offer a constant presence that doesnât need to wait for a reply and you can tweak it to your liking- which leads to skewed dopamine for your brain. Teenagers are especially vulnerable to this due to the brain working on development!
Find a safe space here! Learn to recovery and be encouraged too. All posts are free of any generative AI and are written BY A HUMAN.

1; I RELAPSED???
Relapse is completely normal in your recovery! While it may feel deliberating and upsetting, it is completely okay. Thatâs the first thing you can remind yourself, that itâs normal. The next thing you can do is find the âWhyâ of your relapse.
Did anything specifically trigger it?
Any feelings??
Finding the why can be helpful to find an alternative to relapsing. For example, if what triggered was feeling lonely - then you could reach out to someone next time.
The important thing is to give yourself time to digest it and then, go back to working again. It is a long process but the important thing is that youâre trying.
2; APPS / TRACKING
Some people find it helpful to track how long theyâve been off AI or how much time they spend on it.
Iamsober (Available on IOS & Android) - A timer you can customize and talk with a community! Limited to three trackers
Nomo (Available on IOS & Android) - Multiple timers you can customize, get encouragement & you can also find a âpartnerâ to help, as well as things to do when you feel close to a relapse?
Discord (Available everywhere) - Obviously we have the server but Discord is also great for a private tracker
Obsidian (Available Everywhere) - Note app, but you can also add plugins to help track any triggers
Screentime trackers - Some phones have a limit you can set for specific apps!
3; ALTERNATIVES
While there is no single alternative that will work with everyone, thereâs still a few that others have found helpful.
Roleplay - our discord community has a Roleplay thread & ping for this reason! But you can also join fandom specific servers or create your own Roleplay.
Fanfic Writing - Fanfic(tion) or Fab Fiction is a great way to keep being creative! Even if itâs just for yourself, it can help that urge.
Fanfic Reading - Same as above!
Yumeshipping / Selfshiping - Shipping yourself (or your OC) with a character can help helpful! Whether itâs platonic or romantic. You can also commission people to draw your selfship to avoid AI generating images!
For IOS there is also a SHORTCUT you can do which I can post a tutorial of which is customizable!
4; HOBBIES
Keeping off your phone is also a big help to resist the urge of relapsing and using AI. Some things you can do:
Reading & Writing
Drawing, Animating
Walking, Running, Working out
Cleaning, Gardening
Cooking & Baking
Being on your electronics may help keep your mind busy, some things instead of AI:
Watching YouTube Video essays (List of favorites below)
Learning random topics from Wikipedia
Creating a phone theme
Editing old photos
Gaming (Minecraft, Stardew Valley. Something to keep you calm)
5; ENCOURAGEMENT
Relapsing is hard and so is even getting the motivation to quit. It takes time to build a seperate habit to even stop using AI when you need comfort or are bored. Iâm proud of you. You got this.
A relapse is just two steps forward and one back, but youâre still moving in the direction you need to.
Donât look at the overall picture. Take it day by day.
âIâve been using AI for monthsâ yes, but you used it less today than yesterday. Progress is progress, no matter how small.
im currently gojng through the throws of quitting ai, and im proud of myself for even getting to the 2nd day mark. its been kicking my ass, and i really wanna tell others about it, since two days was hard. however i cant, since im friends entirely with fellow artists and writers. i cant even tell my girlfriend that i used to chat with ai for hours every night before bed, so im telling you instead. i know itll get easier from here, i just gotta thug out the worst of it
