Clouds covered love's barbed-wire snare
"Qui vivra verra… Who will live, will see."
French proverb, via my friend SV
Bouncing Up and Down this Happy Friday morning. (via my friend, Aparna) Love the guy in the bottom right, playing the banana!
I still dream of joining and touring in a large band like this, singing and playing, celebrating and traveling... It was always with either the Polyphonic Spree or Sufjan since college / before 2005, and now I realize Edward Sharpe is another to add to the list. Always love what they do.
When my friend tries to go talk to her ex at the bar
Okay, some ex's aren't all that bad, but, this is just funny
When someone complains about too much peanut butter
I know what you and I are going to do, the next time we hang out! (via my friend, Liz)
What the heck is left for us to eat, and why are these things still being made and sold? I just don't know what to do with this world sometimes.
This brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "food poisoning." Original list found in Dr. Jayson Calton and certified nutritionist Mira Calton's new book, Rich Food, Poor Food .
Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance.

The Patience of Ordinary Things
It is a kind of love, is it not? How the cup holds the tea, How the chair stands sturdy and foursquare, How the floor receives the bottoms of shoes Or toes. How soles of feet know Where they’re supposed to be. I’ve been thinking about the patience Of ordinary things, how clothes Wait respectfully in closets And soap dries quietly in the dish, And towels drink the wet From the skin of the back. And the lovely repetition of stairs. And what is more generous than a window?

New work: Oil, 2013 by Arlene Felipe Cross-posted to Art+Illustration and My Sketchbook
"Before the river starts to hum, the lonely source is heard to sing, Before the tree begins its song, the leaves will set to rustling… If they should bud, let they like I fall down always in love’s circle" -- Frantisek Hrubin
Leaving for a date
Expectation:
Reality:
Blurred Lines / Summer jam by my three boyfriends: Pharrell, TI + Robin Thicke ;)
Six Songs of Me, Day Five: What song would you want at your funeral? Man on Fire - Live at the Wonder Ballroom, Portland OR, 9/3/2010 - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros It has to be this version, or, performed just like this. Not during the cremation (ha-ha), but, I guess ideally my scattering ashes/memorial happening one sunny afternoon, on a cliff near the ocean, and this song playing at some point, would be a nice way to go: Rambunctious friends outside in the grass, the trumpets, all those instruments, the whoops, the handclapping... Natural, celebratory, and free.
I don't want to be buried underground; if anyone so chooses to visit that site, at least they can adventure to a new and changing landscape. It's as if I want to leave people the way this song leaves me feeling: inspired, happier than a few moments before, and wanting to celebrate being alive, experience everything, dance, and love!

Six Songs of Me, Day Four: What is your perfect love song? Wild is the Wind - Nina Simone Deep.. Deep and absolute love. The piano trickles like water and sweeps you dramatically then delicately around the room, just like that feeling when your little heart swells.. matching so well with those lyrics.. While her vocals remain slow and steady, grounded and focused, you can feel the air in Nina's voice. Separately, Nina's vocals and the glimmering music might seem like an unexpected pair, yet they complement one another in this incredibly surprising and perfect way. Dramatic, with much exploration of dimension and space, unrestrained, beautiful, and haunting..
