An AINI rewrite? Do elaborate...
so i (mod tama) once spent five hours telling mod aiba about my nirvana initiative rewrite. the notes on it are ten thousand words. mod aiba also took a crack at a rewrite at some point but it's more employed than me so it never finished. but to extremely briefly summarise my changes
- changed the six year timeskip to six months. the main thing this changes is that mizuki is no longer a pov character as she's still 12/13. unfortunately i consider this a worthy trade because 1. it's not like you're actually playing as her half the time, 2. I'm making her backstory even slightly make sense again instead of her being the adopted child of two people who clearly didn't want kids that bad, 3. I'm giving her back her established character relationships also. this also unfucks all of date's established relationships, because hey, maybe not destroying the most important part of the last game is good actually
- Mizuki's bits end up as date bits. sorry girl :(. date's side is presented in the same alternating past/present format as Mizuki's, but the past sections are explicitly told to be flashbacks because i think the original twist is told to us too late in the story to allow the player to recall the real order of events (it took me two playthroughs to work out that ryuki got threatened with demotion over shooting someone, not falling off a ladder.) the game is too long to be forcing you to recontextualise that late. also ryuki has an actual reason to be mixing up past and present in a way nobody else does
- i removed multiple characters, mostly new nirvana initiative cast, because that game has too many characters and i like the original ones more. kizuna, lien and gen are the ones i remember removing
- bibi has a backstory that actually connects to uru's rather than just having happened in the same place
- bibi also attempts to step up when date goes missing
- uncubed komeji
- made iris and amame actually friends
- mizuki hangs out at sunfish pocket in a pirate outfit and chases out customers who are being weird with a sword
- there's a ryuki pov section in the ending
- tried to care a little about things like "evidence, forensics and CSI" and "how did we get this person to the psync room"
