HELP A WRITER - READ THE FIRST 10 PAGES OF MY YA NOVEL 'MARIE PERRIN' FOR $2

I have finished my first draft of my novel and I can say it’s the most wonderful thing I have written. I am in love with my characters, their honest struggle and their capacity for kindness. It is a story which sounded ridiculous at first, but eventually poured out of me. 

I was tutoring students, the lesson was historical fiction. One student had the idea of writing a story about vermin exterminators who were children. I found the idea delightful and it stayed with me for weeks, nudging me to put pen on paper and release the ideas I was stewing. Inspiration strikes often, but it passes in seconds - this time she stuck and birthed my novel.

What is it about? Marie Perrin, a 10-year-old girl in 1665 France has ruined a marquise’s wedding dress, leading to her banishment from home and a new and dubious career with a rat-catcher. 

It is a story of courage, love and endurance in times of peril.
