It’s the season finale. Something explodes at the hospital; it’s big, it’s bad, there’s fire and injuries and maybe a casualty or two.

Callie sees a quick flash about it on the news that evening, and the reporter mentions doctors and patients still inside, everyone being evacuated, fire and rescue teams working hard.

At the end of the night/episode, Arizona looks at her phone for the first time as she finally leaves and there are five voicemails and eight missed calls and almost thirty text messages, all from Callie.

The texts start out saying things like

Are you ok? I saw the hospital on the news. What happened? Are you safe? Just let us know you’re ok when you have a chance. And they progress to things like

Please let us know you’re ok. Text me as soon as you can. You have to be ok…I’m getting worried. Don’t be a hero, Arizona. You’re a mom. Sofia needs you. And the final few, coming in hours later, are the first thing she sees when she finally walks away from the chaos (unscathed).

I can’t do this again. Where are you? Please be safe. I can’t lose you, Arizona. I won’t. I should be there with you. I’ll be on the next plane if you want me. I should never have left you. I need you too.

I still love you.
