No no, keep talking, I love reading rants abt my current favorites :]
And yeah, suffering the "being the fandom's oc" can suck but I think we should play around with the idea sometime
Like, the fandom played around so much that the majority of the fanbase agreed that Adrian is bigger than Rocky and Rocky loves them lots <3 (or that Adrian is older, but that's bound to happen bc time dilation and relativity)
Adrian isn't ever given pronouns in the book or movie, but I remember there was a clip from an interview with James Ortiz in which he refers to them as a "she", but on Cameo he also refers to them as "they", so I think that's why
Honestly, I don't rlly mind. Adrian can be called any pronouns! Sometimes when you call a mono-gendered alien a "he", most just gotta assume its mate is a "she", y'know??
But I think keeping their pronouns as "they" or "it" seems a lot more appropriate bc Eridians don't have gender and therefore don't confine into any gender norms whatsoever
I like to think abt the "what if"s of Adrian and Rocky's relationship from time to time, but it just upsets me knowing there was a real and big possiblity that Adrian probably got another mate while Rocky was away
But hey, it all works out in the end! Just by the book's epilogue and the movie's ending alone, it's inplied that Adrian has either:
1. Waited patiently for 46 (and possibly more) years for their mate's safe return (I especially adore the Adrian and Rocky are like Penelope and Odysseus idea <33)
2. Found another mate during the time Rocky was away, but mourned him a lot and still thinks abt him. And Rocky returns and finds another mate (or smth like that)
3. Also like the 2nd, but Rocky accepts Adrian's new mate and so they become a polycule/share a mate
There r endless possibilities when it comes to Adrian so I like to make sure that I solidify my own opinion on them (to make it easier for me to write) while also keeping an open mind to other's interpretations :]
