i think it's cute that adrian in the movie is part of the biodome team (especially because it means they might be a biologist and thus grace and adrian would probably click with each other really well) but when i read the book i had the headcanon that they were an artist of some sort.

like, imagine rocky being dragged away from his work to go to a local performance with his colleagues and he's kinda bored and doesn't really give a shit until the star of the show makes their way onstage. they're clad in elaborate jewelry that creates resonant harmonies when it clinks against their carapace. they sing through an instrument atop their air vents, allowing them to produce more than five notes at once. they move with grace and precision. rocky is SMITTEN IMMEDIATELY.

i just think the image of rocky (tatted engineer, covered in grease, wears the same overalls for three days straight) + adrian (elegant dancer/singer, dressed to the nines, eridian equivalent of french or something) is adorable
