We’re printing up #risograph posters to have at @anchoragecommunityhouse Sunday. This is the first job on the larger machine since unloading it after the drive. The poster is 12x 18ish. The machine Needs some adjustments(to be expected after the drive from Pitt to ANC) but in this case, I sort of like the misprints better than the ones with good registration. 🕷📷 @kerenlowell . When we left Seattle we noticed that a spider had made a web on the drivers side of the windshield. We kept our eyes on the spider over the following days. At first it didn’t seem to be having success catching anything in its web. Then it disappears for a bit. We occasionally left the windows open to let in other bugs. One morning it took down its entire web and rebuilt in the same spot)a different angle maybe) and almost immediately the web was full of small bugs. We lost track of the spider for the last couple days of the drive and when we got to Anchorage and showed the bus to some friends, the web was still there, but the spider was smaller. A baby? A diet? Did we bring an invasive species to Alaska? Will the bus be overrun with spiders soon? Or will the coming cold nights kill them? https://www.instagram.com/p/B2e91WJnR2J/?igshid=vqtmr9dvbtzr

We ended our shortest day by miles, but definitely not by time, in Tok. The day started on a ferry leaving Dawson City, saw us through towns with single digit populations, and across a border post that seemed to have a sense of humor. The driving was unimaginably slow some times, but when we could take our eyes off the dirt road and look around, the landscape was unreal. Rich reds, with dark green spruce sticking up like thorns. The light pinks of the fireweed gone to seed and coral yellows and orange of the other plants around them looked more like a reef than something above water. We decided to stay at a small hostel for the night, instead of camping. And when we looked over the bookmobile we noticed that the muffler had snapped in half, both sides still formula attached to the bus.
