Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and Matthias Schoenaerts together on the Animal Rescue set with director Michael Roskam. This is the only photo I know of that shows all four of them in the same frame, so it’s kind of special. But what makes this image particularly interesting is how it captures the depth of concentration with which Tom Hardy is listening. Directors and other actors often remark about his incredible focus. You feel it, of course, in the massive screen presence, but here it is in his working life. I guess the takeaway is that superb acting (or superb anything) begins long before the cameras roll.
