Moving On to Our Next Project: Kin and DID
A great many people have appreciated our comic talking about what it’s like being trans and a DID system. We’re very, very proud of our work on that. And we’ve been tossing around what is like to work on next. One thing keeps coming back to the forefront of our mind, but I’ve been a little worried about poor reactions.
We want to talk about what it’s like for us to have DID and also be spiritual otherkin/fictionkin.
I’ve seen a lot of negativity from OSDDID systems about kin things. I understand where it comes from, since there are a lot of misconceptions/misinfo about OSDDID that come from conflating it with endogenic plurals* and the ways that is associated at times with kin things, and from people that confuse fictional introjects with fictionkin and soulbonds* (an endogenic practice). But there are OSDDID systems that are kin too. It’s just a spiritual belief (I’ll only be talking about the spiritual past life reincarnation belief, even though plenty of people identify as kin for nonspiritual reasons), so there’s no reason that people with OSDDID can’t believe in it.
And what I find interesting is how the belief interacts with how our brain works. Which alters connect most to each life, is that because of something spiritual or psychological, is this memory something repressed from this life, a pseudomemory of an alter, or something from a past life? There are parts that get messy and complicated and we’ve done a LOT of thinking about it over the years, and formed many theories. This will be about our experience and thoughts, not a broad general primer like the previous comic. Though if you are spiritual kin and a traumagenic system (you do not need to be diagnosed) I would love to hear about your experiences so I can see what we have in common and possibly incorporate similarities and differences into the final work! The comic would likely cover a run down of basic beliefs, misconceptions, and then talk about the interactions of the spiritual with the psychological. At least, that’s the plan.
Kin is often controversial because of how people that don’t believe in it often feel the need to shame, mock, and belittle people that do. That’s unnecessary and if you sincerely have a problem with people having their own beliefs, please block me and move on.
Now then, are you interested in reading this?

Please reblog for sample size. I know everyone says that but please do it, it helps.
*I understand that these things are subjects of great debate in system communities. I am not touching that discourse with a 79 and a half foot pole. I frankly don’t think it’s my business outside of requesting that conflation be avoided so that misinfo doesn’t proliferate. If you respect differences and don’t try to step out of your lane I have no problem with you.
RISE FROM THE ASHES
REDAC FourOFour July 18th, 2023
We wanted a DID sticker for our car (and a design to use on notebooks or shirts). We found a very nice design featuring flowers by SpoonieSisterShop on Etsy (check it out if you're a floral person), but it wasn't waterproof. But we liked the use of the DID Awareness Ribbon with white divisions, so we sat down to make our own design.
For our design, we chose the phoenix as the symbol. We felt that nothing better represented the experience of being a survivor in recovery, making a new life after all we went through. Trauma survivors —and especially alters "born" from the trauma itself— are all phoenixes rising from the ashes of what we went through.
I am considering selling this design. If you would be interested, please let me know.

Well, I wanted to have a comic finished for Trans Day of Visibility, but I’ve been working nonstop for 27 straight hours and it’s just not gonna happen before midnight. So instead, I’ll post the first three pages as a peek.
Once I’m able to finish the rest of the ten pages (I have about three and a half pages left to ink, type, and tone), I’ll post the whole thing! It’s a discussion of the intersection of DID and transness. The peek is just the introduction to it.
View at full size —screen tones can look wonky when zoomed out too far.
Happy Trans Day of Visibility!

It’s Autism Acceptance month and the day for Red Instead so I have this painting to finally post! It’s huge irl (the width of a door and 2/3rds the height) and took a lot of effort but I’m so proud of it.
