Akabirdie Art Update!
We are no longer live on kickstarter!
The campaign stagnated after only a single pledge, so it seemed better to focus on better things. It has been cancelled
And that, I have!
I have taken the steps to register as a business, and I am going to open a shop that funds its stock either through preorder (things with higher base cost or high minimum quantities will fund this way) or my own pocket money. I have lots of ideas for the shop items, and will also finally be stocking my leftover Wren Faire pins from my first kickstarter. I have lots of art that can translate to prints, and the Jewish Pokemon pins I was designing last summer will be made a reality. The Jujutsu Kaisen charms will also be available —I ordered samples for them recently. The samples are almost all spoken for, but there will be a Gojo and Yuji that will go straight to the shop.
A brand new idea I have fleshed out that I’m really excited about is Hatching Pokemon Egg Charm Blind Bags. Do you remember playing older games and receiving a Mystery Egg? Did you, like me, go crazy walking around to hatch it faster? I wanted to capture a little of that excitement. These charms are egg-shaped and will be designed like Pokemon eggs, all identical on the outside. On the inside however, is a random Pokemon from a selection I’ve chosen for production! I’ve selected 7 native Pokemon (or in some cases, babies of Pokemon that are native) from each of the nine regions.
I have a few ideas on how to do blindbags and their odds so I’d like your feedback via a poll.
What kind of odds/pokemon selection do you like best?
5/35. For this, regions would come out 1 region at a time, with repeats
1/63. Access to all Pokemon at once, but higher starting cost.
1/? Choose a new, lower number of Pokemon per region
Notably, in the first option, the regions have to come out one at a time because otherwise at this point it is beyond my ability to afford myself. However, as a small business, it seems very hard to maintain an audience for these if there’s only 7 results and they’re region locked.
There is a lot to look forward to with this new and serious endeavour. I live off disability benefits, and I’m doing my best to provide for myself so that someday I can have more freedom and get married. My art is the only work I can do. I’d love to have this shop take off.
The shop is AkabirdieArtShop on Etsy! Some topics I like to make art about are birds, fandom, punk culture and progressive politics, queerness, disability, and Jewish culture. There’s plenty that slips through those cracks, but that covers the bases.
Thank you! Follow this blog to get updates on what I’m up to!
