I built a searchable BJD database for finding dolls, hybrids, and size comparisons
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a project I've been working on for the BJD community:

Doll Finder is a free, community-driven database designed to help collectors search for BJDs by features, compare dolls, find hybrid options, and reference resin colors.
The project has been around in different forms for many years, but I've been rebuilding and expanding it with more tools and features. It is still very much a work in progress, but I hope it can become a useful resource for collectors. This project has taken on even more meaning with the upcoming closure of Den of Angels. I hope Doll Finder can help preserve some of the knowledge, history, and discoveries that have been shared throughout the BJD community over the years.
The main Doll Finder database allows you to search for dolls using specific features and information.
You can filter by things such as:
The goal is to make it easier to find dolls that match specific wants or needs without having to search through countless company pages.
Want to find a doll with unusual features? Looking for a specific size range? Trying to discover a new sculpt? This is what Doll Finder is built for.
The Doll Canvas is a visual size comparison tool that allows you to compare dolls from different companies side-by-side.
It can help answer questions like:
How tall is this doll compared to another?
Will these dolls look good together?
Is this body too large or too small for my collection?
How different are sizes between companies?
BONUS: Will this part fit this doll?
With these images, you can compare part shape and size to see if a hybrid will work!
I've been spending a lot of time expanding the Doll Canvas, so this section has been growing quickly!
Finding compatible heads and bodies can be one of the trickiest parts of BJD collecting.
The Hybrid Database is designed to help collectors find successful head/body combinations and share information about their own hybrids.
The more collectors contribute, the more useful this resource becomes!
🎨 Resin Comparison Database
Matching resin colors between companies can be difficult, especially when buying secondhand or creating hybrids.
The Resin Comparison Database aims to collect real-world reference photos to help collectors compare resin colors between different companies.
Currently, this section is still fairly small, because resin comparisons require dolls that I physically own or community submissions.
Lighting, cameras, and monitors can all affect how resin appears, so these are intended as references rather than perfect color matches.
I have already added a variety of dolls from my own collection, but they represent only a small fraction of the dolls that exist.
Because I can only add dolls I personally own and photograph, there is a limit to how much I can build alone.
This is where the community comes in!

Corrections or missing information
Even simply sharing the website with other collectors helps tremendously.
I have also been thinking about ways to expand the database faster, especially through doll conventions.
Unfortunately, I likely won't be able to attend conventions myself. My job does not offer vacation or leave, and I am also extremely shy in person, so taking on the public task of organizing a photo booth and photographing everyone's dolls is probably beyond what I can realistically do.
However, if someone who already attends conventions would be interested in helping collect photos for Doll Finder, I would love to talk!
I know this would be a big ask, but we could discuss ideas, photo standards (official Doll Canvas background required when photographing dolls), and details through Discord.
This project started because I wanted an easier way to search for and compare dolls, and it has grown into something I hope the entire BJD community can enjoy.
The database is still growing, but every doll, photo, and piece of information added helps make it better.
