This is the background to the banner image I posted a few days ago, these peculiar flowers are called "Tacca Chantrieri" but are more commonly referred to as "bat flowers" and it's where the title of my fancomic comes from.
I picked it as a title not only because these flowers are insanely pretty in a kinda haunting way, but also because I read about a belief tied to them that I found fascinating. Which is that if you stare at them too long, you'll go insane.
I found this belief to be very representative of the story and dynamics in my story, where quite a few characters are kinda stuck either in their own trauma, harmful habits, or in an obsessive idea, and it can drive them insane if they keep staying in that same place, staring at the bat flower if you will.
On a more technical note, the video above is me tinkering with the image as a 3D texture so that I can use it in 3D sets to make promo images a lot quicker, and I really wanted those whiskers-like bracteoles to have a golden leaf effect so that's what you're seeing in that. I like how the texture turned out, I love that effect. Another thing I wanted was for this image to give the idea it was painted on a wall a long time ago, so the color is a little ruined and there's a ton of cracks to give a more lived-in feeling to the sets.
