The rat project continues
Additional details!
My fiancé asked me to make a work mascot for him. The request was for a rat, which will be wearing the goldsmith's apron and holding the large pair of tongs my fiancé uses at his job.
I think this face is looking pretty ratty so far!
The body is the right shape and hollowed out, and I added a tail. Feet are rough and arms+ears entirely missing 😂
A choir of creatures!
Little bird enjoying summer
I bought a Dremel today! Now I can sand down any uncomfortable edges on my maker's mark and sharp glaze drips won't be a problem
Pigeons
My MIL does all of my firing for free so I like to give her a gift at least once a year outside of birthdays and Xmas. This time I am swapping the bottle of wine for a kiln guardian which is her own cat.
This guy will end up holding a pot, as is traditional, and will be coloured exactly like my MIL's boy.
Black clay, white engobe, Mayco Olive Float, a face and a cute hoya to plant in it. Bonus earlier creature.
Let the glazing begin 😄
Bisque fired broken babies! One lost an eye, one lost an ear, one lost a tail and one lost a foot. These all broke in transportation, not in the firing itself.
A few dabs of heatproof ceramic glue and they'll be ready for glazing.
This is going to be a thing
Horse thing. Pony thing
There are limbs and a tail prepped but they need some more solidity before attachment makes any sense
Happiness is a pile of clay!
5kg white porcelain
10kg white stoneware clay
12kg black stoneware clay
I have an Idea. It is almost impossible to ignore the Idea but today I have eaten one fifth of a protein bar and have drank approximately 3007 cups of coffee so it's probably best that I finish snarfing down this microwaved "risotto" before I run back to my studio
I made a little hedgehog friend!
Black clay with white engobe. I'll add glaze and/or an oxide wash to the face and peets
I'm making a little cave for my aquarium
It says :O
I'm going to glaze the body with Mayco's Olive Float but I'm still undecided about the eyes.
The clay fires to a nice black so the unglazed interior should make for a good contrast!
