Hey! ^^ I wrote scenarios instead of headcanons, hope that’s okay with you! ^^ Also, to celebrate The Ssum’s test release in some countries, your best friend will be called Teo in these. :D
RFA + Saeran reacting to an oblivious MC whose male best friend has feelings for her
Being the main character in a big production means Zen has to spend a lot of his time rehearsing. As kind and understanding as you are, you’ve never once complained about not getting to see him often and that only makes him miss you even more.
This is especially prominent today. It’s as if having plans with you for later that day has only fueled his longing to see you. He looks at the other actors performing with him, but all he can see is your face. People try to talk to him and their words overlap into a cacophony of unwanted noise, an unpleasant sound his mind decides to replace with the sweet memory of your voice.
Once rehearsal’s over, he heads straight to where you texted him to meet you. The plan is to grab something to eat and then meet your best friend at the book store they’re working at. Zen’s only ever heard you talk about them a couple of times before and for some reason, he decided not to press the issue. Now that he’s only minutes away from meeting them, he can’t help but wonder what kind of person they are.
He makes out your form from far away, your favorite dress dancing around your body to the rhythm the gentle summer breeze has set. Your hair is pulled into a messy bun and he can’t help but smile at the sight of you…
Oh, and there’s someone else with you. A… guy? The traffic light turns red, giving Zen enough time to observe you two. A broad smile has made its way on your face and he can make out your sweet laughter even from across the street. The guy with you can’t take his eyes off your face, a smile of his own forming on his lips, his cheeks bright red. He takes every opportunity he can to get closer to you and his eyes often wander towards your lips. Could it be…?
The unexpected feeling of an arm wrapping around your waist startles you for a second until you realize whose slender fingers are gently caressing your skin through the thin fabric of your dress. You turn around to greet your boyfriend, but you’re met with his lips instead, a passionate kiss making your knees go weak. Caught in the feeling, you quickly return Zen’s affection, your fingers buried in his soft locks.
A sudden cough makes you remember where you are and what’s the polite thing to do in this situation. Cheeks pink, you straighten your outfit and clear your voice before you start talking. “Zen, this is my best friend Teo. He finished work early today, so I invited him to eat with us. Teo, meet my boyfriend Zen.”
Zen shakes his hand firmly, a smug smile making his features seem even more otherworldly than they already are. If Teo’s face wasn’t bright red before, it sure is now. You take it as him begin embarrassed to see you and your boyfriend openly displaying your affection for each other in public and quickly apologize, but Zen knows. All men are, indeed, wolves. But this one in particular he has to deal with himself.
The sound of water splashing on his skin is the only thing Yoosung can hear. Usually, the clinic is full of loud noises, barking and meowing, but the past few days there have been no new furry patients for him and the staff to take care of. The corners of his lips lift in a small smile. Money is money, but he can’t help feeling happy when business is slow at his vet clinic.
His phone goes off, interrupting his train of thoughts. Hands still wet, he unlocks it, hoping the texts are from you. You’ve changed your profile picture in the RFA app with one of the selfies you two took last night and his eyes linger on it for a moment, a soft chuckle escaping his lips.
Oh, snap. He goes through the messages again. He forgot. He completely forgot that you made plans to introduce him to your best friend. Plans for tonight.
He bursts out the front door, sparing just a second to wave the staff goodbye. He hails the first cab he sees and all but yells the directions to the driver all while trying to text you. It proves to be a bad idea, the realization hitting him with its full force when he meets the driver’s unamused gaze.
A couple of minutes later, he’s managed to calm down and text you. The driver turned out to be an understanding man and even promised Yoosung to take the shortest route to the restaurant where he’s supposed to meet you. A quick glance in the rear-view mirror confirms his hair to be in a presentable condition, so he focuses on straightening his shirt while taking deep breaths.
As curious as he is about your best friend, he’s also anxious to meet them. You haven’t talked about them a lot, but from what little he’s gathered, you’ve known them ever since you were a kid. A bad first impression is out of the question.
As soon as he enters the restaurant, he sees you and heads towards your table. The broad smile that just appeared on his face prompted by the sight of you in your most stunning dress completely vanishes as soon as he sees your delicate hand into that of another man, his thumb drawing circles on your soft skin. Skin he shouldn’t be touching in this intimate manner.
“Oh, hi, sweetie!” You greet him as if nothing’s happened and pull him into a tight embrace. He buries his head in your shoulder and your scent is quick to render him almost completely immobile and helpless. As you release him from your arms, he turns around to look at the man at the table, his eyes focused solely on you, an unreadable expression on his face. “Sweetie, I want you to meet someone special. This is Teo, my best friend. Teo, this is Yoosung, my boyfriend.”
Teo looks at Yoosung just for a second, long enough to pass as polite, but short enough to get the blond man thinking. Then his eyes return to you, a hint of desperation clearly evident in them. Oh, so that’s what it is.
Yoosung guides your face to his with a finger under your chin and kisses you passionately, lips lingering on yours longer than you’d expect. With a bright smile, he turns towards Teo only to find him looking dumbfounded, his mouth agape. Surely, he’s had enough chances to confess his love to you, but he missed them all and lost you. A mistake Yoosung vows to never make. “Now, shall we order something to eat?”
